“Now that we have the school going up. I hope that packs will utilize it to build relationships with the other packs.” I glanced around the table. The omegas had been putting forth more of an effort to keep things clean and polished. The table shone in the sun that came through the open windows. “Furthermore, we need to get more alliances with the other packs.”

“Yes, but we also need to find your Luna, Alpha Fin.” One of the deltas answered me, bringing my gaze to the red-headed male.

There it was again, finding my mate. Don’t get me wrong I would love to find her as well, but I needed to get my pack in order. We had found Dolomite crystals by accident when Harlen and I, along with a few other wolves, had been hunting. A younger wolf had fallen into a crack in the cave and once we got him out, his fur glistened in the light.

I then went back down in my human form into the crevice and what I saw washed me with relief. We now had a form of money and the stress of getting all the homes rebuilt before it got really cold left me. I was able to find an entrance to the underground cavern and let the others know what we had found. Once we started to mine the Dolomite crystals, I was able to pay back Nolen for his help. They had helped bring the pack back in a good financial way and the only packs that knew about them were mine and Rhyolite and Quartzite.

“I know, Hunter. But we still have a lot of things to do to get the pack to normal. Yes, we found the crystals, but we are not strong enough to protect ourselves even from a smaller pack.” I stared at the young delta to my side. He was an excellent strategist, but he needed more training and that would take time. Because we still had pups that had yet to shift so they wouldn’t be able to defend themselves from a wolf. If their enemy kept to their human form they would have a chance but that would be wishful thinking.

“I think we should go next to the Shonkinite pack. They have a younger Alpha and I think that we will be able to convince him to alliance with us. Besides, they are the closest one to us.” Harlen spoke up before the other wolf could begin his sentence. He knew when not to press the luna subject.

I like this idea. When are we going? Aloysius answered in my head, his tail going a mile a minute, as I sat there looking at the map. Bella’s birth pack had come back to an alliance with us once my uncle was killed. And then we had gone to another. I had to say that not only was I looking to alliance with other packs, but to find my mate as well. But the one Harlen was talking about we had never been allied with. If I remembered correctly, it was a smaller pack. But it could’ve grown in the last ten years for all I knew.

I nodded to Harlen and got up from the table. “I’ll make the call and see if we can meet with him this week. Thank you all.”

The two deltas stood, bowed, and left from the room. I had been to this pack before with my father in search of my mate. She wasn’t there then. Would she be there this time if I went? Could she have been one of the younger females there? I didn’t want to get my hopes up. As much as I wanted to find her, I didn’t want to rush it. What if she hated that I hadn’t waited on her?

“I can see the wheels turning in your head, Fin. What is causing the worry?” Harlen continued to sit as I stood there looking down at the map, studying it. Not like I knew where every single thing was on this map.

“What am I going to offer him? There isn’t much that I could offer.” I stared at the older wolf, trying to find out what I could offer this young alpha. My pack could no longer offer protection. It was still getting back in shape from what my uncle had done to it for those ten years.

“You could always give him a share of the crystals.” Harlen suggested as he tapped his fingers on the wooden table. This was true, but I didn’t want to let everyone know we had found that on our land. It could cause a war that my pack couldn’t handle at the moment.

“Yeah, we could. But do you think that would cause a war?” I leaned over the table, my knuckles resting on the paper map as I stared at my beta.

“Well, if it’s something that we can’t offer, then we will use this as a last resort.”

I nodded. There were so many packs that had been destroyed when my uncle took over. The first one he took was Kalila’s birth pack. That land was now neutral territory since there were no wolves left of that pack. I had gone over one day just to see what it looked like and when I saw it; I wandered through the burnt down buildings and the barely standing ones before I couldn’t take it any longer.

“Let’s see if he would like to meet up and talk. This is our first step.”

Harlen bowed his head and stood from his chair. Leaving me in the room by myself.

Chapter Twelve

Fin

Harlen and I pulled up to our neighboring pack in the black SUV. I thought it was a little excessive since we could have run in our wolf forms. But my beta told me that it would be more professional if we took it and if I did find my mate, I didn’t want to push her away with my stench. Harlen put the vehicle in park and killed the engine. Taking a deep breath, and letting it out, I opened the door and stepped out.

I had never been to this pack as Alpha but had come plenty of times with my father and then to try to find my fated. The wind softly caressed my face, bringing with it the most amazing smell of peonies and cedar. Taking another deep breath, I glanced around at the pack lands and spotted the alpha and his beta heading our way. They were about the same height, but the beta hung back just a little bit.

“Well, here they come and that’s definitely not Alpha Christian.” Harlen’s voice came from behind me. He was still my beta until his son came of age. His daughter had found her mate in another pack, a beta no less, and I had made sure that the Alpha knew to make sure she was happy. If he didn’t I’d hear about it for sure. So another pack was allied with us through fate.

“This Alpha looks young. I feel like an old man with all these young leaders around me.” I said as we walked to meet them. The smell came back on the wind and I was tempted to ask the Alpha where the peonies were on his land that produced such a scent! But I held back, we had business to talk about, not flowers.

“Of course he’s young, Alpha Fin. He came into power after your uncle took your pack from you.” That will always leave a bad taste in my mouth. That and him killing my chosen along with my pup. If Nolen hadn’t tore him apart, I would’ve done it myself! Moon Goddess telling me not to be damned. He wasn’t going to live if my chosen family couldn’t.

As we came closer to the Alpha and Beta, I pulled out my best smile and held out my hand. The other Alpha did the same. His grip was sure and confident. Just like any Alpha would be. “Alpha Rory, how are you? I haven’t seen you in a long time.”

“Same Alpha Fin. You are looking good after being rogue for a while.” I didn’t like the grin he shot over his shoulder at his Beta, but I ignored it. Because the Beta had rolled his eyes after his Alpha turned back around. I was here to make another alliance. To help bring the surrounding packs closer, like Dolostone, Rhyolite, and Quartzite packs.

“Yea, well, I think it made me stronger. So, why don’t we talk about that alliance?” I wanted to get this over with quickly. There were other matters in my pack that I needed to deal with.

“Sure! Let me give you a tour of my land first! My father would tell me off if I didn’t. You know courtesy and all that jazz.” Alpha Rory chuckled as he motioned to his right. We fell into step with each other as he guided us to the training fields. His stride was confident and sure as he walked beside me.

The scent that lingered in the air seemed to be getting more potent as we reached the training fields. That’s when I saw her. Dark chocolate hair and the girl had legs for days. The training shorts she had on barely covered her ass and let’s not talk about that sports bra. Fuck! If it was any smaller there wouldn’t be a reason for her to wear it. The muscles under her skin shifted each time she moved and the way her eyes stayed on her target. Had my heart racing in my chest. She had her long dark chocolate hair pulled up into a ponytail and her fists were up in front of her face. Like any good fighter would.

I glanced over to her opponent and nearly snarled because of his size, the male that she was up against made her look miniscule. He was huge. Why would she even be going up against anyone like that. I had never been one to tell a female who they should fight against but this was ridiculous. We need to protect her! That’s her Fin! Mate!Aloysius snapped. I wanted to go to her, but she wasn’t responding to my scent. So, I stood there beside her Alpha. Watching as this monster of a man strolled up to my mate, cracking his knuckles. She never batted an eye at him. If I was seeing things right, she had given him a smirk.
