“She’s a little small for that wolf, don’t you think?” I tried to sound unaffected, but when Harlen nudged me, I knew I hadn’t pulled it off. It was hard to watch my mate stand up against someone twice her size and do nothing.

“Naw man! Just watch! This she-wolf is a force to be reckoned with. She’s one of my top warriors,” Alpha Rory said excitedly as he crossed his arms and widened his stance. The smile on his face unnerved me.

“So she’s a Delta?” I questioned him, glancing at the young Alpha from the corner of my eye.

“No, not yet anyway.”

I brought my gaze back to my mate. They circled each other a few times before the male lunged. The she-wolf twirled away, her ponytail swinging up and away from her shoulders, before she landed an elbow to the back of his head. The loud crack as it made contact reverberated off the trees. Damn, she packed a punch.

Turning, the male swung a massive hand, as he went down, striking her ten feet away. I had to ground myself to keep from interfering. Aloysius was howling in my head as I gripped my arms tighter. My knuckles white as I clenched my teeth. If she wasn’t confirming the mate bond, I couldn’t interfere with what an Alpha allowed his pack to do.

She stood, an eye already swelling, but she grinned as she wiped away a small amount of blood from her lip. This woman just wouldn’t go down. When she lunged at him, he stiffened. Her eyes held a wild, blood-crazed emotion. He was down in an instant and she was on top of him, beating him to a pulp. And I wasn’t even turned off by it. Hell, if I was being honest, I was turned on by it. The way her body moved as each punch bloodied his face.

My little mate could handle herself in a battle, that was for sure. I couldn’t help the smile that spread on my face and the cock of my eyebrow as the wind blew toward her. Her arm hesitated, but her head never snapped up to me. She had her eyes on her prize.Fin, she’s your mate, isn’t she? We need to be careful. This could go either way with this Alpha.

I know Harlen, but isn’t she beautiful? The awe even in my mind’s voice made me grin. I had never seen a female like her before. She was graceful and full of fire, just what a Luna needed to be. I was love struck and we hadn’t even locked eyes.

I noticed Harlen shake his head with it in his hand. Yes, I was excited to be finally meeting my fated and that if she really wanted, she could beat my ass.

Nikita

When the wind brought his scent of sage and sea salt over to me, I knew he was my mate. I hesitated for a moment; my fist pulled back to punch the male wolf below me. My wolf howled in my head to acknowledge him. To look up at the opposing figure beside my Alpha. But I didn’t. Why did he take this long to come to my pack? Was he not looking for me?

I had noticed him as he stood there watching me. Something deep inside me wanted him to see what I could do to the massive man that had stood before me. My eyes would wander over to the top of the hill where he stood. His dark hair floated on the wind as it wove its way between him and my Alpha.

There had been talk about an Alpha coming from another pack to talk about an alliance. I never would’ve thought that he would be my mate. As I stood from my defeated opponent, blood dripping from my hands, I finally looked at him. His dark eyes met mine, and that was all it took for me to know he was mine. The way his lips were turned up in a grin and that raised brow. Fuck, and that chiseled jaw with a little stubble in it. I’m pretty sure I might have seen some grey in it. Damn, he was fine! And he was all mine if I allowed him to get close to me.

Yes, he is! I can’t wait to meet his wolf.Enyo’s tongue lolled as she rolled to her back, her tail beating the ground in my head. I rolled my eyes as I stepped away from my opponent’s body. Turning away from the gorgeous alpha in his skintight shirt, my heart hammered in my chest the further I walked away from him.

“Great fight Nikita!”

“You really put a wailing on him!”

“He didn’t stand a chance!”

I smiled at the females that hovered around me and the males that thought that they could get into my pants with their smile. It wasn’t that I was saving myself. I did that till I was eighteen and then when I didn’t find my mate. I was like, fuck it! But now he was here and what would he do when he found out I hadn’t waited? Glancing over my shoulder, I saw him turn as if nothing happened and walk away with his Beta and my Alpha. His ass looked just as good as his front did.

Freshly showered, I made my way into the Dining Hall. Tonight, it was mandatory to eat in the pack house. Which a lot of the mateless females didn’t mind since they could meet the Alpha from Dolostone. The rumors about him spread like wildfire in this pack. And boy were they things of the imagination!

As I entered the massive room, it was decorated to the gills with streamers and other décor. Its once beautiful arches covered with fake ivy. I noticed that Alpha Rory and his mate were up at the top, along with the Alpha from Dolostone and his beta. He looked bored, but when I stepped further in, his eyes connected with my grey eyes, and he smiled. I froze before nodding. I knew I had to be respectful. Otherwise, I would embarrass my alpha if I didn’t.

“Nikita, have you seen the Alpha from Dolostone?” I turned to Crystal. She was standing with her little pack of bitches, a smirk on her thin lips. If she didn’t have such a bitchy attitude she might just be someone you could be friends with.

“Yeah, I think he was at the training fields this morning.” I came back at her. She would never fight me fair. She knew I’d kick her ass all over this territory and then some. She always hid behind her brother and his rank.

“No wonder he was so upset. It looked like he was going to puke. What male’s ego could handle your brutality?” She and her friends laughed as I stalked up to her, bringing her shrill voice to an end.

“Then it’s a good thing that I don’t need a man to protect me when there’s a fight.” I whispered in her ear and tweaked her nose. She hated when I did that but she never made a move to me in this crowded dining room.

I made my way to the table that held all the food and grabbed a plate. She didn’t bother me and it didn’t bother me that I might have bruised his male ego. I stacked my plate full of different foods and made a beeline to the upper levels. The alpha’s eyes burned holes in the side of my face as I walked up the red carpeted stairs.

Males and their egos. How easily they can be broken at the drop of a paw. I sat down at one of the empty wooden tables overlooking the hall and realized he wasn’t at the table with his Beta. The older wolf glanced up at me and smiled before he began to speak with my Beta. Something was up and I didn’t like that his Beta was in on it.

“Mind if I sit here?” I turned at the deep voice and stared into his dark eyes. They flickered between that and a deep blue.

Just the way his voice sounded to my ears made me wet and let’s not talk about his scent! He cocked an eyebrow before he took the seat across from me. I didn’t even know this wolf’s name, but he brought out everything that I shouldn’t be thinking about.Nikita, talk to him! He is our mate! Why are you not opening your damn mouth!

Shut up, Enyo.I reprimand my wolf. I grabbed a few pieces of watermelon and shoved them into my mouth. Which gave me an excuse to not speak to him. Removing my gaze from the handsome alpha in front of me, I glanced down. Alpha Rory was staring at me, giving me a sickening gaze. He never paid much attention to me unless he could exploit my abilities. But at this moment, he had his hardened gaze on me.
