I knew where her room was and I planned on going to her, or maybe I’d have her come to me in my room. I wanted to know more about her. What was her life like? Was she disappointed when she didn’t find me? I’m sure she would be upset I had marked another she-wolf. Hell, what would’ve happened if I was still mated with Kalila? Would I know Nikita was my fated? Or would we pass by each other like I did any other wolf?

“Your mind is going a mile a minute, Alpha Fin. What’s got you so deep in thought?” Harlen’s voice cut through those thoughts as I glanced over to him. I swear he knew me like the back of his hand. He should, since he was my dad’s best friend and had become like a father to me since I came back to lead the Dolostone pack.

“Just thinking about what would’ve happened if Kalila was still alive. Would I know Nikita was my fated? Or would I pass by her like I do any other wolf?”

The sad smile on Harlen’s face made me think that I would have just passed her by without a second thought. As much as I missed her and my unborn pup, I now knew this was supposed to happen since I had changed the Moon Goddess’s plans. “I wouldn’t know Alpha. I had never known of a person choosing a mate and then finding their fated.”

We made our way up to our suite. Harlen went to the kitchen, and I went to the shower in my room. Stripping from the sweat and dirt covered grey sweats, I stepped under the running water. Nikita packed a punch. Which was why I evaded the others that she threw at me. I scrubbed my body, making sure to clean my hair as well.

She was all that I could think about. I wanted to take her in the shower, on the bed, up against the wall. Hell, even on the forest floor. Just thinking about the ways I wanted her was making me hard. Could she feel my wanting? I hope she could because maybe it would bring her to my room.

Aloysius wasn’t much help as he pushed thoughts in my mind of what we could do to our mate. I was never one to think of things like this, but they were intriguing. Would she like not being able to use her hands?Stop, we don’t know if she would even like that.

My wolf shook his head and then cocked his head to the side. I’m sure that if he would have had eyebrows, one of them would have been raised.

Chapter Fourteen

Fin

Iknocked on Alpha Roy’s office door and waited. Alpha Roy answered the door and he stepped back, allowing me inside before shutting the door behind me. The curtains were open showing off the training fields. That rested just below the edge of the hill.

“Have a seat Alpha Fin.” Alpha Roy’s tone was a little different since yesterday. I doubt he liked I was Nikita’s mate. He sat down in front of me on the other couch in his office. “So, how were your first couple of days here in the Shonkinite pack?”

“It has been very enjoyable. You have a beautiful pack and territory.” I answered him, trying to gauge what he was really trying to do in this meeting.

He nodded before leaning up and grabbed a glass off the table in front of us. I remembered being in this office plenty of times with my father as he spoke with Roy’s father. Alpha Roy had changed a lot of this room to fit him. I noticed the desk was missing and my mate’s scent was slowly fading from the room. Why was she in here? Did he already know before the training this morning that we were mates? I mean I didn’t technically hide it when I saw her at the dinner yesterday.

“I think it’s been horrible that our fathers couldn’t ever come to an alliance. So, what do you want from my pack in this alliance?” Alpha Roy smiled as he poured what smelled like wolf whiskey.

I had come here to talk about him trading goods. Since my mate was here, I figured I would offer him something more since she was an asset to him and his pack. “I don’t need anything from your pack other than my mate. I have some resources that I can help with, since you will lose one of your top warriors.”

Alpha Roy sat back with his glass in his hand, swirling it around. “So, Nikita is your mate. Isn’t she a little young for you? You’re what? Fifty?”

I knew what he was doing. He was trying to push me into being the aggressor. I used to use this tactic with other wolves myself. I chuckled before reaching over and pouring myself some of his wolf whiskey. A slight growl came from him. If he wanted to be this way I could too. “Well, I’m sure your father was way older than your mother than I am of Nikita. Besides, one doesn’t go against the Moon Goddess without consequences.”

If I wasn’t paying attention, I could’ve sworn that his eyes changed to his wolf’s before he reined in his emotion with a smile. His smile widened and then raised his glass. “This is true. The Moon Goddess is known to strike down wolves that mess with her plans.”

“This is true and I’m not fifty. I’m thirty-five in human years.” I threw back the drink and sat the glass back down on the table before leaning back in my seat. He wanted to play hard ball about something like he was trying to get me to admit to something.

“Then I guess you’re not that much older than she is. What do you have in mind about sending me in her place?”

“On a protected part of my territory, we have found some dolomite crystals. I can send you two percent of the crystals to do as you wish.” Two percent of the crystals were worth ten of Nikita. Before I came out here, I had an estimator come out and look at them. Which was why I made sure to mention that it was protected and on my territory.

“Okay, when would I expect the first shipment?”

That was easy. I expected him to negotiate a little more, but I could handle that. There was something going on and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. “Once I leave here with Nikita and get back to my pack.”

He nodded and placed his now empty glass on the table next to mine. “Well, let’s get out of here and have some dinner.”

We both stood and left his office. Something about this was too easy.Harlen, can you find out more about this pack? I figured Alpha Roy and I would’ve been in this meeting a lot longer. There’s something fishy going on.

Yes, Alpha. I’ll see what I can find out.

I sat in the Dining Hall on edge each time the door opened. But Nikita never came. I was a bit disappointed. Glancing over to Harlen, I nodded and stood. He nodded back to me, but continued to sit as I left the room. He was still trying to find out more about this pack.

Where was my feisty wolf? I turned down one of the corners and saw her. Standing where I was, I watched her and the pack of girls that had confronted her. My first instinct was to go to her and use my status as Alpha to make the she-wolves leave. But I knew Nikita wouldn’t like that at all. She was proud to say the least.

“Warrior Nikita looks like she’s scaling the ranks. How’d you get him to pick you? Huh?” The red-headed she-wolf snipped with a smirk on her face. I could tell that this she-wolf thought she was the best looking female here.
