“Yes. I was in a rough spot when I went rogue. There wasn’t a day in my life back then that I thought this would happen. But it did and I’ll be here for you for the rest of our lives.” Fin kissed my temple before sliding back to his seat.
My heart hammered in my chest. What was I going to do? I knew that he meant every word he told me.
I arrived in the Dolostone pack just before dinner with Beta Harlen and Fin. Harlen had begun to talk about his mate Bella and their two children, Tobey and Sydnie. His son was still too young to take over, but he had started to show him a few things. He was easy to talk to. I was amazed that Fin didn’t get jealous. From what I had noticed at my pack he didn’t get jealous when I talked with a mated male.
There were two wolves at the gates to let us in. Fin was silent as we pulled through the pack lands. New grass grew from the ground as wolves stood up to watch the SUV pass. Beside them were new trees. Pups ran around parents who were planting flowers in gardens.
New buildings went up beside what looked like just built ones that were ready for occupants. I heard a chuckle beside me and turned my gaze on my mate. I saw the smile in his eyes as he stared back at me. The way he made me feel like a pup was unreal.
“Have you not seen things being built before?”
“No, we haven’t built anything in a long time. Was all of this because of your uncle?”
“Yes, he destroyed a lot of the territory. Like I told you at your pack, mine has a long way to go to get back to where it was. With the help of the Rhyolite and Quartzite pack, we have gotten this far.” Fin answered me just as Harlen pulled up to the pack house.
I noticed that some of it was being rebuilt as well. Some of the windows had been boarded up, and the sides were being restored with new rock. I was sure that before what had happened, this place was gorgeous.
“Was that the pack with the prophesied alpha? The brother?” I was curious because I had heard about this prophecy before and I wondered what he was like. Because anyone that said anything about the prophecy was never seen again, when Alpha Christian was still in power.
Fin chuckled. I didn’t think he would ever get jealous. Well, unless some male came in while he was fucking me. I had to stop thinking of things like that, because just the thought of him inside me made me wet. “Yes, Alpha Nolen and his Luna Amora. They are close friends of mine. Along with Alpha Sawyer, I only met his Luna once at my second Alpha ceremony.”
“I’ve never seen another pack. Unless they came to ours. Like you did. A few tried to buy me off of Alpha Roy.”
A growl rose from Fin, bringing my attention back to him. Harlen had turned just as Fin exited the vehicle and shifted. I turned back to Harlen, and he shook his head while getting out of his side and opening my door.
“Did I say something wrong?” I didn’t mean to make him mad. Alpha Roy had declined their offers and if Fin would’ve stayed, I could’ve told him that.
“He will be fine. Fin, as much as he has matured, is still learning to rein in his emotions. He will be back before dinner. Let me show you to his… I mean both of your room.” Harlen grabbed my bag from the back of the SUV and led me up the steps and into the packhouse.
It was beautiful inside. Fresh paint stained the walls and the glass in the windows that weren’t boarded, allowed so much sun in that the lights in the ceiling weren’t really needed. It was definitely bigger than my previous packhouse. Fin really did know how to run a pack.
Since Fin was the only leader of the pack, I figured it would be more bachelor than neutral. This had a woman’s touch if I ever saw one. Omegas were cleaning and placing new flowers in the vases. While other wolves were coming in from the back with vegetables. Damn, they grew their own food?
As I walked by, they all stared at me before going back to work. I could hear some of them talking about me when they thought I was out of earshot. They could gossip, I didn’t care. I was used to that type of thing back in my old pack. It wouldn’t be any different here.
“Once they know who you are, they won’t be like that. They are very nice wolves. They are not too sure about new people anymore.” It was like Harlen was reading my mind. Maybe that’s why he was so good at his job.
“I’m not worried about them, Beta Harlen.”
A beautiful older woman came up to us with a boy at her side. She kissed Harlen and then turned to me. Before I knew what she was doing, she enveloped me in a hug I never saw coming. No one had ever given me a hug even as a child.
“Bella, let her breathe.” Harlen chuckled as the woman named Bella stepped back, giving me my space back. “Nikita, this is my wife Bella and my son Tobey.”
“She is our future Luna.” Bella looked at her son with a smile and the boy had a look of awe in his eyes as he stared up at me.
“How do you know Beta Bella?” I asked her. The curiosity in my voice made her giggle.
“Because I can smell Alpha Fin on you hun, and I’m not meaning the bedroom scent. That man has made sure that no other male will even look at you the same.” Bella answered me. I thought the mate mark could only transfer that scent. Bella leaned over to me and whispered. “I taught his mother that little trick. It seems that his father taught him.”
I nodded, not knowing what else to do other than that. Harlen shook his head and motioned for me to follow him. He and Bella led me up another flight of stairs. I made sure to memorize where I was going. Each floor looked like it was being renovated as well. When we reached the last floor, I noticed that this one only had a door on the landing.
Harlen opened the door and let me go first. Bella followed me in as I looked around. Harlen walked to one side and down a hall. I assumed it was the hall to the rooms. He came back and held out his hand to his wife.
“Alpha Fin said to make yourself at home. He will be back in a few minutes. Dinner will be served at six.” Harlen bowed his head and Bella smiled at me as they left me in the room.
