“Adia, baby, we shouldn’t talk about the past. So Nikita, how has your stay been here?” Alpha Roy came up to us and wrapped his arm around her waist. She nuzzled into him with a smile.

Fin came up to me as I stood there. His fingers threading into mine. I glanced over at him and his brows were knitted before he smiled at me. Fin had become someone I could lean on and I could only hope that he could do the same with me.

“It’s been great. Alpha Fin and the Dolostone pack have been amazing.” I answered him the growl from him told me he didn’t like my answer. He hated when I called him by his title.

“Next month on the full moon we will have her Luna ceremony. I thought it would be fitting to have it during the blue moon.” Fin’s voice carried over the sounds from outside. My heart was racing. What!

I hadn’t been told that I would have my Luna ceremony then and having it on the blue moon was something that rarely happens. That was when the Moon Goddess was said to have given us our wolves. A long time ago.

“That is an honor for any rising Luna. We will definitely have to be present for this,” Alpha Roy answered with a little too much emotion. He glanced down at his mate and she was the only one to have a genuine smile on her face.

I tried to keep my emotions to myself, but I knew I wasn’t doing a very good job when Fin stiffened beside me. At that moment, Beta Harlen came from the other side of the foyer. He bowed his head and then continued forward.

“Alpha Roy, Luna Adia, if you would come this way we are serving lunch and would like for you to let us know how the cooks have prepared it.” Harlen bowed his head again and led both my former pack members to the dining room.

Fin turned to me, and I sighed. I just wanted them to leave and never come back. But according to Fin, he had come to terms with Alpha Roy about giving him a percentage of the Dolostone crystals in exchange for an alliance. But what Fin didn’t know was that Alpha Roy didn’t want to be allied with him since he had basically killed his cousin. He just wanted revenge on the alpha.

“Nikita, is everything okay? Every time Alpha Roy comes here, you are on edge.”

Chapter Nineteen

Fin

Nikita shuffled her feet before looking up at me. She had been acting off since I brought her here. But after she showed Jade just a little bit of her strength, the entire pack knew she was every bit of the Luna that they needed. A bunch of them were excited about the upcoming ceremony.

“Nikita? Talk to me.” I pulled her closer and brought her gaze back up with my fingers under her chin. The pad of my thumb ran across her bottom lip.

“It’s nothing…”

“Nikita, I can feel the stress coming through our bond. What can I do to help you?” Caressing her face made her lean her head into my palm. “You know I love you. You can tell me anything.”

Enyo has been telling her to tell us something, but she says she’s scared.Aloysius commented in my head. He whimpered before he laid his head on his front paws.

I could tell that she was. Next month I’ll meet Alpha Roy with the crystals. I hated she was like this around him. But since she wouldn’t let me mark her, I couldn’t mindlink with her.

“I just need to be with you. I’ll be okay.” Nikita grinned up at me, but it didn’t reach her eyes. I decided not to push it for now. I didn’t want to stress her even more.

“Okay, well, let’s get something to eat and send them on their way. Shall we?”

Nikita nodded and walked with me at my side. As we entered the Dining room Alpha Roy glared at Nikita. He must not have let her reject the pack. But why would he still want her under his control?

Harlen. I think Alpha Roy still has control of Nikita. Can you do some digging? I really don’t understand why he would.

Of course, Alpha Fin.

I cut the link between us as we settled in our seats at the table. Alpha Roy sat beside Nikita and I could feel the unsteadiness through our bond. He was definitely doing something to her. But I couldn’t figure out why she was letting him do what he was doing.

Grabbing her hand, I brought it up to my lips. The shiver that raced down her arm caused goosebumps to follow. Nikita glanced over at me and smiled. A light little blush rushed across her cheeks. I never thought she would let herself blush.

“Alpha Fin, you mentioned that Nikita will have her Luna ceremony next month. Why don’t we come then to pick up the crystals?” Alpha Roy leaned over to talk with me and Nikita stiffened as she moved her arm away from him.

“That is fine. I hope that you will be able to make it. I’m sure Nikita would love to have her pack come.” I answered him to see if he would give anything up.

Luna Adia grabbed Nikita’s hand and smiled at her, but Alpha Roy just scowled at their hands. Something was up with him and I intended to find out what. If not tonight, then soon. Because Harlen was still looking into how Kalila and Alpha Roy were related.

After we had finished our lunch, Alpha Roy and his Luna went on a walk and Nikita went up to our room. I motioned for Harlen to follow me and we went to my office. Standing at the window, I watched as the wolves worked on the inner town of the pack. One of these days, this place would be better than it was.

“Fin, Nikita has been acting strange since he has been coming to collect the crystals. She has always been very confident. But when he comes, it’s like she changes.”
