“Yes, but it has been many years ago. What is the problem, child?”

“Alpha Roy wants me to kill Fin. Because he killed his chosen. Well, he allowed her to die and Fin’s chosen was Alpha Roy’s cousin. I don’t know what to do.” I laid my hands in my lap as I stared at the ground. A flower poked through the crack beside the bench.

“I know that his chosen died. But you shouldn’t have to do Alpha Roy’s dirty work. This pack has started to grow and they have two powerful allies if anything was to happen. Alpha Roy should know that death is inevitable. It happens to all of us.”

“What should I do?” My voice sounded small compared to what it normally was as I spoke to the woman who gave us all life.

The Moon Goddess placed her palm on my face and smiled.

“You know what you have to do. You’ve known it ever since he ordered you to do what he wanted. Be the strong Luna that I know you are. That I made you to be. Because I wouldn’t have given Fin you if I knew he wouldn’t be able to match your energy.”

She kissed my forehead like my mother used to on rare occasions before she died. She was right. I couldn’t allow Alpha Roy to push me to do this. I wanted to be with my mate and that is what I was going to do.

Running into the packhouse, I ran into Harlen. For him, being an older wolf, he was still very much a force to be reckoned with. “Oh! Harlen, do you know where Fin is?”

“Yes, he went to the Dolostone crystal mines with Alpha Roy. He should be back shortly.”

“Okay, do you think you could tell him to come see me?”

“Of course, Luna… uh I mean Nikita.” Harlen bowed his head and then left out the doors I had just came through.

If he had gone to the mines, then that meant they were fixing to leave. Then I could be alone in my pack with Fin. I needed to talk to him and let him know what Alpha Roy was going to do. This shouldn’t have gone on for as long as it had, but now I was going to fix that.

Heading to the kitchen, I was already hungry and then thought about bringing up food for the both of us. I spotted Andrea at the counter and went up to her. She was a sweet girl and had been very nice to me when I would come and get food for the both of us.

“Hey Andrea, what’s on the menu for tonight?” Whatever she had in the oven was appetizing.

“Oh, hi Luna! I’m making some soup for the sick kids and then I’m baking bread for dinner tonight. Do you want me to have dinner sent to you and Alpha Fin’s room?” Her smile was bright.

The other omegas that worked in the kitchen had started working on what they would make for dinner. I hoped it was the first dish that they had made when I first came. It was delicious.

“That would be great. Thank you Andrea!” I turned and ran into Jade.

Her eyes flashed between her human’s and her wolf’s. I crossed my arms over my chest as I stared back at her.

“What is your problem this time, Jade?”

“You’re my problem, Nikita. You don’t even love him, do you?” The snarl in her voice would’ve been terrifying if I were any other wolf. But I had taken on bigger, stronger wolves than her.

“And why’s that?”

The kitchen had gone silent as we stared at each other. This she-wolf was getting on my nerves. All because I wasn’t the chosen luna that Fin had taken years before.

“Because I heard what you are planning for the Alpha. But you won’t be able to get near him to do anything. I will end you even if I die trying.” I could see her wolf rising to the surface as she stood in front of me. Enyo was wanting to put her in her place again.

“I don’t know what you think you heard but…” For the third time today I was shoved into something. My back was going to be bruised if this continued to happen.

“Don’t tell me what I heard and what I didn’t. I know, and I will tell Alpha Fin as soon as he gets back from the mines.”

I growled at her, Enyo coming so close to the surface that I could feel the fear from the other wolves in the room. Grabbing her by the neck, I took us out of the kitchen and then into the foyer.

“What you heard was just me getting my old alpha off my back. If you continue to go against me, I will make you pay. I’m not going to be disrespected because you can’t get over the fact that I’m now going to be the rightful Luna of this pack.” I threw her to the floor and stalked up to her. As Harmony came around the corner. “You can either get on board with this or we will continue to have bad blood between us. You both can choose.”

Jade’s eyes flitted over behind me and before I could turn, she had blurted out.

“Why should I have to choose when I know that you and that Alpha that just left is planning on killing my Alpha?” The smirk on her face told me that the person was Fin.
