“Okay, I can have an omega help you up to your room.” I answered him.

He raised his hand with a shake of his head and went to get his Luna. I watched as he grabbed her by her elbow and pulled her away from the other two Lunas. She seemed to not want to leave. I couldn’t blame her, it looked like he didn’t want her to mingle.

Lynn, follow the Alpha and Luna to their room. But stay far enough back that he doesn’t suspect you. I’d hate to have to kill an alpha on my territory.

Yes, Alpha.Lynn’s sweet voice answered me as I watched her scurry to the steps.

I didn’t trust him as far as I could throw him. Which I’m sure would be pretty far, but we won’t go into that right now. I just couldn’t understand why he had such a problem with me. He surely couldn’t have been that close to her. But how did I know? Kalila never talked about the pack and family that she had left to come and be my Luna.

The only thing I had to make sure of was that he didn’t hurt Nikita. I would burn this entire world for her. Starting with him if I needed to. No one would be safe if something happened to my Luna.

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Nikita

Istartled awake in the bed. The dream that I had was almost a nightmare. My body trembling and sore as it rested on the soft mattress. Sitting up from my prone position, I sniffed the air to try to find Fin. His scent was barely in the room as I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood.

The dress I had been wearing for the ceremony was wrinkled and covered in dirt. I headed over to the closet and pulled out another dress. Laying it on the bed, I took off the dress I had on and slipped the other dress over my head.

My brown curls were a little looser than when they were put in. I opened the bedroom door and smelled two wolves at my door. Tilting my head, I sniffed again and stood there. Why were there guards at the door? Did something happen that Fin needed to have me watched?

Fin?I didn’t think that he would answer me since he thought I would sleep until the morning. Well, I would have if the dream hadn’t woken me.

Yes, my feisty Luna. Why are you not resting? It took everything in me not to shudder at his deep, husky baritone. If he had been in this room with me, he would be mine.

Why are there guards at the door? And where are you?I didn’t quite understand why he would station guards at the door. I mean, if there were still people here, I wouldn’t think anyone would be so bold and try anything.

I’m downstairs. Just tell them to move out of your way. I shook my head at his brutish way of saying things sometimes. But I wouldn’t trade him for anyone else.

I know how to excuse myself, but why are they here?

Because I don’t trust Alpha Roy. I won’t make the same mistake twice.

I shook my head and opened the door. The two warriors bowed their heads before stepping behind me as I made my way down to the first floor. I was never one to have a guard before, since I was always the one being the guard. So the two of them behind me didn’t really put me at ease.

I spotted Alpha Roy and Luna Adia coming up the stairs to their room. Adia looked like she was in pain, with Alpha Roy’s hand clutching her elbow. The warriors behind me bristled as I walked past the leaders of my old pack.

Alpha Roy reached out and grabbed hold of my arm, spinning me around as Adia cowered on the landing. One of the warriors took hold of his arm, his claws extending into the other alpha’s flesh. Alpha Roy winced as the claws entered further into the muscle and sinew. Enyo tried to rush forward to make me shift to protect myself. But I held her back.

“Take your hands off our Luna.” One of the warriors growled. His voice laced with his wolf’s. Fuck I’d hate to be alone with this wolf in a dark forest.

“You think you can be Luna here, but all you will be to this pack is an outsider that conspired with me against their alpha. You lost their respect when that female overheard our conversation. This isn’t over.” Alpha Roy released my arm in turn, ripping his from the warrior beside me. The anger that flowed through me was more than my own. I could tell that Fin was riding this with me in our bond as I glared at the alpha before me.

“Not like I was respected in my own pack. You just liked that I was the strongest warrior of the pack. Yet you never made me a delta.” I spat at him just as Fin’s scent made its way to me.

Alpha Roy grunted and left before Fin got closer. Adia’s face was flushed as the tears ran down her face. I never realized how much Adia was scared of Alpha Roy until now. If there was a way I could save her, then I was going to do that. I just hoped that she would be strong enough to cling to her part of her soul.

I turned just as Fin crested the landing below me. The warrior beside me had retracted his claws and fangs. My arm still stung from Alpha Roy’s grip, but I needed to make sure that Fin didn’t know. Blood stained the stairs since Alpha Roy tore his arm open to get away. Since that would cause a war between my pack and my old one. And I didn’t want to have that on my conscience.

Fin grabbed my hands as I tried to reach for his face. He looked me over, almost with a fine-toothed comb. I winced when his hand touched the already bruised skin of my forearm. The look of fury in his eyes was not lost on me as I struggled to compose myself.

“Did he do this?” I opened my mouth, thinking that he was asking me since his eyes were glued to mine.

“Yes, Alpha. I made sure that he had a souvenir as well.” The warrior answered before I could and when the hard blues flickered, I knew this wasn’t going to be good if his wolf rose any closer to the surface.

“Fin I’m fine. Let’s go down to the party. He will be gone tomorrow and when he leaves in the morning, those crystals will be the last that he gets from us.” I touched his face with my other hand to try to get him to see reason. We didn’t need a dead alpha on our hands. Besides, if there was a way, I wanted to keep the alliance until we got stronger.

“This is punishable by wolf law. He shouldn’t have touched you!” The snarl was more animalistic than before as he stared at me. I knew that he was on his way to being unreasonable the more he got mad. This couldn’t get out of hand. I needed to make sure he calmed down.
