“I will make a call to Harlen. He has been a good man.” He nodded his head and left me in the cell. I could only hope that Harlen could convince her not to come to save me. Nikita would be in trouble if she came here.

Not only from Alpha Roy but whoever was attacking this pack. If anything we needed to be finding out who it was and fast.

Chapter Forty

Nikita

You could only imagine how pissed I was when I found out that Fin had left me here to go and see who was behind the attacks. I paced the entire morning trying to get someone to tell me why he had to do this himself. If his ass got killed I would pray to the moon goddess to bring him back just so I could send him back to her.

Olli was sitting in our living room scanning through the book that held all the prophecies. Why was it my family that this had to happen to? Not that I would wish this on anyone else. But did there have to be a prophecy at all.

I could have grown up with my parents and possibly a sibling. This whole thing made me mad. I stomped over to the couch and picked up my mother’s journal. This was the only thing I had left other than an aunt that didn’t even know I was alive and an alpha cousin that didn’t even know we were related.

“Olli, why did you go rogue?”

“Your father started to do things I couldn’t get behind. So I rejected the pack and left.” Olli glanced up from the book and stared at me.

“What did he do?” I needed to know. Why would someone as loyal as Olli just leave and never look back?

“I’d rather you read your mother’s journal. If she put it in there I’d rather you learn it from her than me.” He shook his head and started to read again in the book.

Sighing I opened the journal to the entry I had left off.

I went to the pack doctor today for my checkup. I’m getting closer to delivering this pup. She has made it through all the ups and downs during these past two months. She is my fighter. When they told me that she was a girl I just knew that Cain would be upset. If the only child I could give him was a boy then that’s what I wanted to give him.

But this little girl. She is something special. I can’t wait to watch her grow into the wolf and leader I know her to be. The doctor says that she is growing well and that she is growing at a normal rate. She is healthy and strong.

The only thing that has me sad is that Alpha Christian is still wanting to take over our pack. But now he wants my little victor. He wants to take her for his son. He is sure that they will be fated mates. He wants to bring her up in his pack to teach her their ways so that way it is easier for her to become luna.

I have begged Cain to go back to the Dolostone alpha for help. From what has been told he has always been a fair alpha and he could help us. If I was to barter my daughter to any alpha it would be to his son. I have told Cain that I would go if he would let me. But he shot that down. I can’t understand why he would want to give our daughter away like this.

Somedays I want to call my sister and have her help us. I know that she and her mate would. But Cain has commanded me to not say a thing about this to her.

Next time I hope I have better news.

Ciao

Damn alpha males and their egos. Why couldn’t he just go back to the Dolostone alpha. Did he not know that the male that he talked to was a fraud? I shook my head. If I ever have a son I will make sure he never lets his ego get in the way of protecting the pack or his mate.

I continued on in the book but it was the same thing over and over again about her trying to get my father to go to one of the alphas. But he continued to tell her no. If Fin ever tried that with me I would do it anyway.

Fin couldn’t command you anyway Nikita. We are alpha born.Enyo said she had been quiet for some time but she was excited about learning what our mother was like. I figured she was sitting back and reading with me. If wolves could read that is.Watch it! If you can read I can read.

I chuckled as I continued to read through. My father allowed his pride to get in the way. I just can’t understand as to why. Turning my gaze to the window I realized that it was getting to be evening and I hadn’t heard from Fin.

Damn him and leaving me here. I told him unless I was pregnant I wanted to be able to protect our pack with him. But I was in my room waiting for him to come back. When I had woken up I figured he had gone out for a run which was his normal but then when he didn’t come home at his normal time I went to find Harlen.

It took some time getting it out of him but he finally caved and told me that he had gone to the Shonkinite pack to find out who was killing over there and bringing the bodies over to our pack. I was so pissed that he had left me that it was getting harder to read my mother’s journal now that I was to a part that my father was making a decision while my mother pleaded with him.

I had given Harlen the cold shoulder ever since he also left me in the dark. How could they. Yes I wanted to learn about my mother and why I was given to Alpha Christian in the first place but I still was capable of helping him run this pack.

Slamming the book down on the table I startled Olli and got up without apologizing. I mean why should I? The door opened and Bella came in with a tray of food. She smiled at me and I gave her a weak one back. Bella rounded the table sitting the food down and went to the kitchen to grab three drinks.

“It will be okay Luna. Fin is a big boy he can take care of himself. Besides, he would never put your life or a pup’s in danger by taking you with him.” She motioned for me to sit beside her as she put my plate beside my mother’s journal.

“I understand Bella but I’m not pregnant.”

“Still he is being cautious. Eat dear.” She pushed my plate further in front of me and I grabbed it with the fork. “Olli here. You both have been in this room with your noses in books. Food is good for the mind as well.”
