I laughed at her. Bella always knew just what to say to get people to do what she wanted.

The sky was darkening and I was starting to worry about Fin. It shouldn’t have taken him this long to get the information that we needed and then get back. Olli had headed to bed and Bella was making sure Tobey was in bed as well.

Wolves in the pack were heading to their homes for the night with their families.

He’s still alive. If he wasn’t then we would know that he had passed on.Enyo whimpered. She didn’t like that he was late getting home.

Sighing I paced the balcony as we waited for him to come home. An SUV had pulled up and Harlen met them with Doc and a gurney. The back door opened and Fin’s scent came up to me with the wind. Two other wolves took the gurney to the back of the black vehicle and loaded up the body that laid on it.

If I wasn’t mistaken the other scent that was with Fin was my old beta. Fin came into the light and I noticed that he was holding his arm. What did they do to him? They must be trading my mate for Luna Adia. It hurt that I didn’t know who had killed her.

As much as I wanted to run down there. I was still pissed off that he had left without me this morning and then was captured because that would be the only way that we would be trading. Fin and Harlen shook hands with my former beta and he entered the SUV. They left as My mate and Harlen came into the packhouse.

I went to the foyer of our suite, arms crossed and waited for them to come up. It didn’t take them long to get up here. When the door opened Harlen was the first in, followed by Doc and his medical supplies and then the culprit himself.

He glanced up at me and gave me a sheepish smile as he came up to me. I could see the other wounds that were healing on his upper body and other arm. Which pissed me off even more.

“So, you decided to go find out information and didn’t let me tag along.”

“Now, now feisty wolf. There’s no need to be mad. I took care of myself.” Fin chuckled but he stopped when he realized that I wasn’t smiling. “Nikita, I didn’t want you to get hurt. It’s one thing for me to fight them but they used to be your pack. Besides, if I had run into the person killing off loved ones then I didn’t want you to be there to entice him.”

“You still didn’t give me a choice and then your choice got you locked up in the dungeons. For however long you were down there.” I snapped. It wasn’t like me to be this way but he had not only pissed me off but hurt me that he didn’t trust I could take care of myself and him.

“How do you know I was in a dungeon? I didn’t tell you anything about anything yet.” His left brow rose and he gave me that alpha look.

“You do realize before you came and took me back here I was a warrior and I put plenty of people in that dungeon. So I became well acquainted with the smell.”

“Then yes I was in the dungeon. But if I wasn’t I would have had to fight Alpha Roy and I wasn’t about to fight someone who was overcome with grief.” He shrugged his shoulders and then kissed my cheek before he went to Doc to get looked over.

I walked over and watched as Doc listened and poked and prodded my mate to make sure that he was healing well. Whoever got a hold of Fin did it quickly. Because there was no way that he would allow someone to get him otherwise. Harlen sat on the couch across from him watching as well. Fin never learned that I probably could have gotten in him without being seen and then back out.

“So, Luna, when are you going to come see me for your exam?” Doc’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts as he put everything back into his bag. Fin’s and Harlen’s eyes darted back over to me and I didn’t miss the flare of Fin’s nostrils.

“What would I be going to get checked Doc?” I inquired as he came up to me. The way he looked at me had me curious.

“I would think that you would know along with Alpha Fin.” Doc dropped the bag and pulled his stethoscope out again to listen to my heart and then he placed it on my belly. He had to be kidding. There was no way. “Luna you are with pup and I advise you to come to my office in the hospital to get an ultrasound. You might be further along than you think.”

Chapter Forty-One

Nikita

There was no way that I was pregnant. I would know, right?

I glanced around the room and my hands went to my stomach. Fin came up to me and made me look up at him. This couldn’t be happening, I needed to be able to help keep the pack safe. How was I going to do that if I was pregnant? Fin’s eyes were soft as he held mine.

“It’s okay, feisty wolf. War with Shonkinite is not going to happen. We just need to keep you safe right now.” The way he spoke to me like I was going to break.

I mean, I very well could break. This was something I didn’t think would happen because I had been in heat for so long. But then again with as much as we were fucking I shouldn’t be surprised. “Fin we still don’t know who has been killing the pack and then bringing them to our territory.”

“We will find whoever it is. I won’t let them anywhere near you or the pup.” Fin’s voice was laced with his wolf’s.

There was never any doubt that he would protect me. But I still felt like I was going to be useless and I hated that feeling. I had told myself I would never be useless or feel like that ever again. Now that pledge was out of the water. I shook my head and then went into our room.

This was all so much and I needed to get away from it all. Why did the Moon Goddess decide that it was a good time to allow me to be pregnant. What was her plan? I stood in the middle of the room trying to figure out the plan. While I had been okay with getting pregnant before I got poisoned, now with everything up in the air about the person or people that were killing the Shonkinite pack. I didn’t think it was a good idea.

“Nikita,”

I turned and realized that Fin was standing in the doorway watching me. He made his way carefully to me like I would go off at any moment.
