If he had noticed that I was pregnant he didn’t make it known. His hair was greying and his body was leaner than Fin’s was. As I studied his features I could tell that I had some of his. What I couldn’t understand was why he was still alive and if he was why wasn’t my mother. This was the reason I was trying to find out what was going on in her journal. What happened to my mother?

“What are you wanting from me?”

The man stood up and came over to me. Bella growled in the corner as he approached me. She didn’t like that he was so close to me. He reached out his hand for mine. I was never one to be afraid of things but at this moment I didn’t know what he would do if he noticed that I was pregnant.

“My daughter, with you still alive we can make Obsidian into a pack again. With a mate of my choosing it will become the strongest. You are a female born alpha. We will find you someone strong to rule beside you. Your pups will be strong as well.” The way he talked it seemed like he didn’t understand that I was already mated.

“But how will I rule if there are no pack members? And if you haven’t noticed already, I’m mated and he is one of the strongest males in the territory.” I stood in front of him and his eyes went from my face to the mate mark that rested at the base of my neck.

This shift from calm to anger in his eyes pushed a tiny bit of fear through my system. But he wasn’t the first man to try to bring me to heel. I could tell that he was trying to keep calm but the fact that I was already mated. It threw a wrench in his plans, I just had to keep him from realizing that I was with pup.

“Who is this mate?” His voice was calm but the fire in his eyes told me he was pissed.

“He’s the Alpha of Dolostone. I’m the Luna and if they find me here with my Beta female tied up they will kill you. As you know a pack protects their Luna and Beta female.” I answered him with my arms over my chest. If he wanted to act like he was big and bad I can show him big and bad.

“Then I will kill him first. He denied me help when I needed it. I will take his head for taking you as a chosen!”

“He didn’t take me as a chosen. Alpha Fin is my fated mate.” I growled out. As much as he said that he was my father he definitely didn’t act like one.

“You allowed a Dolostone alpha to take you as his? After what his father did to us?”

“Alpha Fin is not the one in the wrong. If you’re talking about the time you came there seeking help you talked to the wrong brother. You didn’t actually talk to the alpha. If you would have gone back when mother told you, you would have been able to get the help that you needed! But no! You let your ego take over and you did this to your family!” I pressed my finger into his chest. Pushing him into the wall. “You chose to let Alpha Christian take me to keep your pack. You rolled over and let him take me. Instead of going back and asking for help or going to mother’s sister's pack for help. You bowed down! You are no alpha!”

“Your mother told me the same and I should have listened to her. But I was a younger alpha and didn’t want to tell other alphas that I was weak. But I made up for that. I’ve taken down the Shonkinite pack. Their alpha is no longer able to lead. I’m the one that has done this.” The manic laughter that escaped him showed me just how much he had gone mad. I didn’t see it before when he was calm but I did now.

I had heard of this with mates. That if one dies that they lose a part of themselves if they are bonded strongly. From what my mother had written in her journal they were, which was the reason that it hurt her so badly when he let me go.

“A few years later we had another pup, a boy this time. He would have been your sibling.” His eyes changed again, to hold sorrow that was so deep that nothing anyone would say would take that away. “The alpha that you say wasn’t the real alpha that I met with that day. Came to Obsidian pack and tore us apart. He killed your mother as I tried to hide her and my son. That alpha took my world from me. He almost took my life but my beta saved me and I was able to get away.”

The sound of the door opening caught my attention and his. I turned to see Fin with Harlen behind him. The man that called himself my father grabbed me by the neck with a claw stretching out to my jugular.

Chapter Forty-five

Fin

Icouldn’t help the deja vu that came over me when I saw the male, that I had been hunting, grab hold of my mate and the single claw that inched its way to her jugular. With my heart racing I never took my eyes off Nikita. Why was my life so cruel that it put my mate in danger?

“You take one step closer and I will end her life!”

Aloysuis was boiling inside of me. Harlen’s hand went to my shoulder and I realized that I was subtly shifting to my massive white wolf.

Alpha, we need to be careful. We don’t want to make him kill her. He has Bella tied up.Harlen’s voice kept me grounded as I stared at my mate.

My gaze went to the man’s eyes and I noticed that his was the same color as hers. She looked like him a tiny bit. If I hadn’t been with Nikita for as long as I had, I would have missed it. Could they be related? If so, who was he to her? Everyone from this pack other than Olli and Nikita was killed.

“Why don’t we talk this through. Let Nikita and my Beta female go and we will talk about what you want.” I spoke to the enraged man that held my mate tightly to him. Making no move to go forward or leave the room.

“There’s nothing to talk about. Just go away!”

“Look, let me take my Beta and then me and you can discuss this. You don’t want to kill the woman in your arms.” I had to get him to let her go. Otherwise if she died I’d surely lose my mind and I didn’t need that I had a pack to run.

The male’s nostrils flared and his eyes hardened. His canines started to crest his lips as he stared back at me. His grip tightening on Nikita’s throat as he realized that I was her mate. “You are the Dolostone alpha. Your father was the one that took my family away from me!”

“Why would he do that? I think that you need to know which brother you were talking to…”

“You think that I would believe you? Your father turned me away!” He snarled at me while tightening his hand even tighter around Nikita’s throat. She was turning blue. I had to get him to let her go and soon.

“Look we can argue about this but you need to loosen your grip on her or you won’t have anyone to hide behind.”
