Fin, look if anything happens to me. Don’t blame yourself please.

Nikita, you know that I won’t be able to do that. This right here is too close for comfort as it is and a hell of a memory that I don’t want to remember right now.

The look in her eyes as her wolf started to take over worried me. Even with her being an alpha I couldn’t let her shift. She was pregnant. I had to think of how to get them both out of here safe. Nikita then did something I didn’t even see her do. She took her elbow and slammed it deep into his hip bone causing his grip to loosen and she stumbled away to Bella.

I shifted and grabbed the man by his arm and pulled him out of the room. Harlen went in to help untie Bella before shielding them both from anything that might harm them. The male before me began to shift as I pulled him out of the rundown packhouse.

When he completely shifted I realized who he was to her. He had to be her father. His line was the only one that had those types of markings. From what Olli told me the night before he talked with Nikita. He started doing unethical things in the pack. Which was the reason Olli left to go rogue.

This had to be Alpha Cain that Ollie was talking about and in wolf form he looked exactly like my mate. Part of me wanted to kill him because the craze in his eyes like he was rapid could only mean that the broken bond had been getting to him. The only way to cure that and that would be to end his life.

The only good thing about this, it wasn’t rabies and I wouldn’t ever get this unless someone took Nikita away from me. Which wouldn’t happen, and I was going to make sure that it didn’t. Alpha Cain moved left while I jumped in front of him. I didn’t know if he was trying to get back in the room with Nikita or if he was trying to circle me. Either way I wasn’t going to let him do it. I growled before lunging at him.

His claws raked down my shoulder before I grabbed hold of the tuft of hair in his mane. Slinging him away from the pack house. I didn’t want him to be anywhere near there as Harlen brought Nikita and Bella out of the house. It was no longer safe in that room for them. If I would have known that the old alpha was still around then I would have put Blake and Conner to guard them in our suite.

Cain came at me, canines bared and drool streaming down his jowls. He was really wanting to kill me, he really thought that who he talked to was my father. At this point I didn’t know if I should try to drug him and take him back to a cell in Dolostone to set him straight or give him mercy and take his life.

Nikita needed closure too. So I decided that I was going to try to set him straight. As he lunged I lunged with him and clamped my jaws around his neck. To put him to sleep. Cain struggled and then finally slumped on the ground at my feet.

Harlen came out with Bella and Nikita. Blake limped over as the patrol that I brought with me came up. I had made it here before them trying my best to catch up with the wolf that had kept me at bay.

Roco, James grab him and bring him back to Dolostone and put him in a cell. We will deal with him in the morning. Make sure to put him in the alpha one.

I sat there waiting for Cain to wake up. It had been a few days since I had put him to sleep. I had made sure to clothe him when he went back to his human form. Couldn’t let him freeze, not like we could being wolves. Still I wouldn’t be like my uncle and let someone stay naked.

Cain began to stir as I sat there watching him. Shaking his head as he sat up against the wall. When he realized where he was. He stood and came over to the bars and growled. “Let me out! You cannot keep me from my daughter!”

“You and I need to have a talk. Since you are in that cell it looks like you will have plenty of time.” His eyes flashed to his wolf’s while he stood there facing me.

“You are just like your father. Thinking of no one but yourself.”

“I think of a lot more people other than myself. My pack and my Luna will always come first.” I crossed my arms over my chest and widened my stance. This was going to take a while. He was just like Roy there wasn’t much I could do.

“Ha! You will cause her death.”

“No, I won’t. If anyone dies it will be me. I will not let her or my pup go the way my chosen went. When you had her like you did, all I could think about was that day that my uncle had Kalila…”

“Kalila? Beta Mark’s Daughter? You took her as a chosen! You son of a bitch! Why would you take away her fated! You see all you care about is yourself!” The bars shook in front of me as I continued to stare at him. He didn’t know what sacrifices I had made. “And now she will never know that love. You then took MY daughter!”

“I chose her because one of the wolves in your pack rejected her. So if anyone was going to lose out on a fated it would have been me. I would have lost out in the end, not her.” I answered him before I thought about what I had said, because it would have affected Nikita as well. “It doesn’t matter now. The Moon Goddess has already punished me. I don’t intend to piss her off again.”

“Ah yes the Moon Goddess, the one that didn’t bat an eye when your father tore my pack apart.” He snarled back at me. I can relate to that emotion. When she took Kalila but now I knew why and that was because Nikita was my destiny and had always been.

“My father was dead when your pack was taken from you. My uncle had taken my pack from me and killed my parents. I then went rogue to figure out how I was going to get my pack back. But as time went on I didn’t feel that my pack needed me anymore because I didn’t think they would want me.” I made sure to hold his gaze. He needed to know that I was telling the truth. “My uncle did a lot of evil things when he had hold of the Dolostone pack. But he has been dead for almost a year now. He will never do the things that he did ever again.”

It was a quick moment but I was sure that I noticed the realization before his anger showed through again. If he lost his mate all those years ago and made it this long then he was in the end stages now anyway. There was no coming back from this for him and I hated that for him and Nikita. She needed to know her family but not like this. “How long have you been alone?”

“A little over ten and a half years.”

“I’m sorry for what my uncle has done to you and your pack. But know that your legacy will live on through Nikita. Our pup will be the strongest wolf born since he will be from a female born alpha.” Cain glanced up at me when I mentioned Nikita and the pup that would be born soon.

“My daughter is with pup?” I nodded and Cain backed away from the cell bars and slid down the brick.

“Cain, were you the one killing the Shonkinite pack?”

Cain nodded as the sob crossed his lips. I didn’t know why he was crying now but I had him mostly calm. I needed to find out the answers. “Why were you punishing the Shonkinite pack?”

“Their previous alpha took my pup from me and then his son found his mate. He was to have his son choose Nikita. Because he wanted a strong heir but when the Dolostone alpha came he didn’t even come to help us. He turned me away when I came to him for help when I was all alone.”
