I couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment at the thought of spending more time in school, but my grandfather simply waved it off.“Aiden is dedicated,” he said confidently.“An extra year won’t deter him.Besides, his boyfriend is only a sophomore.”

I blinked, looking at Jay, who beamed and shrugged.“We’ll graduate together.I bet you’re cute in a cap and gown.”

Maria smiled and nodded, clearly impressed by Kaito’s conviction.I felt a swell of gratitude toward my grandfather and Jay for their unwavering support.Kaito’s belief in me had always bolstered my confidence. As the adults moved on, I pinned Jay against one of the lab tables and kissed him, losing myself in the taste of my gorgeous boyfriend.

“It shouldn’t make me hot when your grandfather introduces me to people as your boyfriend, but it does,” Jay said, chuckling softly.

“It so does,” I said.“Feels more real, I guess.I still can’t believe he’s this accepting of our relationship.”

As we continued through the department, my mind raced with thoughts of the future.I envisioned myself diving headfirst into research projects, making groundbreaking discoveries, and helping preserve the natural world that I held so dear. With that in mind, the extra year didn’t seem so bad—in fact, it felt like an opportunity for growth and exploration.

“Do you think people fuck in here?”I whispered, pressing closer to Jay.“I can picture it.On a late night, studying in the lab, my boyfriend drops by with dinner and I can’t resist how cute his ass looks in jeans.”

Jay shivered and kissed me again.“Come on, horn dog, we’ve gotta finish this tour before both of us have unfortunate erections.”

“No erection you have is ever unfortunate,” I said, grinning.“It’s your body telling me how much you need my mouth.”

He shivered and widened his eyes at me, but Professor Marquez poked her head back in, interrupting us.“You boys coming?”

We giggled and separated, holding hands as Professor Marquez led us into another lab.

“Here’s one of our biggest labs,” Professor Marquez said, turning to a room filled with state-of-the-art equipment.“You’ll be spending plenty of time in here.”

“Wow,” I breathed, taking in the sight of the high-tech microscopes, computers, and other tools that would soon become part of my daily life.

Kaito placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder.“This is incredible, grandson,” he said, his voice warm and encouraging.“I know you’ll thrive here.”

As we continued on our tour, I couldn’t help but notice the way the professor’s eyes seemed to linger on my grandfather. Her cheeks flushed a rosy pink whenever he spoke, and she laughed a little too enthusiastically at his jokes.

“Hey, Jay,” I whispered as we trailed behind them, “do you think Professor Marquez has a thing for Kaito?”

Jay grinned, his eyes twinkling mischievously.“I was thinking the same thing! We should totally try to set them up.”

“Agreed,” I said with a nod, already imagining the possibilities.Maybe all my grandfather needed to be less cranky was a little romance.“But let’s keep it subtle, yeah?I don’t want to scare her off.”

“Trust me, subtlety is my middle name,” Jay replied, winking.

“Actually, it’s Alexander,” I teased, earning an exaggerated eye roll from him.

“Alright, Mr.Literal,” he chuckled.“You know what I mean.”

We spent the rest of our time on campus exchanging sly glances and sharing quiet laughter as we subtly nudged Professor Marquez and Kaito together.By the time the tour ended, it was clear that there was some definite chemistry between them.

“Thanks for showing us around, Maria,” Kaito said, as we prepared to leave.“It was really informative.”

“Of course!”Professor Marquez replied, her cheeks turning a shade of pink that matched the flowers blooming nearby.“I’m always happy to help.”

“Maybe we can all get dinner sometime,” Jay suggested casually, giving me a knowing look.“While Kaito is still in town.”

“Sounds like a great idea,” I chimed in, doing my best to keep a straight face.

“Sure, I’d love that,” Professor Marquez agreed, her smile genuine. My grandfather shot me a questioning look.

“Then it’s a date,” Jay said, making the professor’s blush deepen even further.

As we finally left campus and headed back to our new house, Jay and I could barely contain our excitement. We bounced around the car, chattering about our matchmaking success and the possibilities that lay ahead, while Kaito glared at us.

“Can you believe we actually pulled it off?”Jay asked, his voice filled with glee.
