I roll my eyes at that, getting up from the stool to head upstairs. Z is one crazy motherfucker. Threats don’t really work on him. Knocking on his door, I wait. He pushes the door open and peeks out at me with a sad frown on his face. “Don’t even bother asking me. I won’t tell you.”

I blink at him for a moment. “Come on. What did she threaten you with to get you to comply?”

Z rolls his lips in before he pokes his head out to look up and down the hall to be sure we’re alone. “She said she wouldn’t let me give her anymore love bites if I told you about the message.”

I can’t help the startled chuckle that escapes me. Of all the possibilities I considered, that wasn’t one of them. I’ve seen how many hickeys Z leaves all over her body. I guess it would be a threat thatwouldn’t punish her as well. I huff, knowing that I won’t get anything out of him. “Does Nox know?” I ask, crossing my arms over my chest.

Z nods but doesn’t meet my eyes. “But he won’t tell you either.”

“What the hell did she threaten him with?” I demand, letting my arms fall to my sides in exasperation.

Z shrugs his shoulders. “I don’t know. All I know is that Viv has gotten all of us to agree not to tell you.”

I narrow my eyes. “Seriously? That’s why Cain didn’t tell me? I thought he was just trying to be an asshole.” I roll my lips in. “Well, I guess he was, since I wouldn’t know anything if he hadn’t brought it up.”

Z just shrugs again, giving me this seriously pitiful look that makes him look a bit like a starving puppy who just watched someone eat a five-course meal without sharing any scraps. Without saying anything else, he slowly closes the door between us like he’s worried I’ll try to beat the answer out of him.

Turning on my heel, I head back into my room. Picking up my phone, I hit dial on Viv’s contact information. Thankfully, I had those uploaded to the cloud. Texts, though… Nox has a program that deletes them after four hours. Not that we text about anything incriminating. It’s more to keep dangerous people from getting any information on us if we ever get captured.

Viv picks up on the third ring. “I’m still not telling you,” she says instead of a greeting.

I smile at that. God, this girl is just so fucking cute. “That’s not why I’m calling.”

“Oh,” she says with a surprised hitch to her voice. “What were you calling for?”

A grin spreads across my face. “I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies with me tomorrow after classes?”

I can hear a small intake of breath over the phone, and she pauses for a moment. “I’d really like that,” she says softly.

I’ve never heard her sound so shy before and it’s killing me that I can’t see the look on her face. “Great! I’ll see what’s playing tomorrow afternoon and we can decide on what we want to see.”

“Okay. No rom-coms though. I’ve decided they aren’t for me.”

A laugh escapes me at that. “Noted. I’ll text you in a bit and we can decide.”

“Sounds good!” she says before we hang up.

I spend the next twenty minutes figuring out what the two theaters near us are playing tomorrow. Our only choices end up being between a horror or action movie. Since Viv hasn’t seen any of the other trillion movies that came out before the newest action movie, we decide on the horror movie.

I’ve never been on a date before, and as I realize that, I can understand Z’s freak out before his first date with her. Should I bring something? I should; that’s what they do in all the movies. Z got her flowers, but that’s not really our thing. A smile forms across my face when I get the best idea. I’m going to kick ass at this whole dating thing.

I’m so excited about my date with Sloane tomorrow that I have trouble falling asleep. That’s probably the only reason I’m awake when there’s a soft knock at my door. Getting up, I head over and open the door, assuming it’s Zane, since not many people are psychotic enough to knock on someone else’s door at midnight on a school night. I’m mildly surprised to find Nox standing there, fidgeting with the hem of his shirt. Out of all the guys, Nox is the most reserved.

Moving to the side, I wait for him to come in before closing the door behind him. If he came here at this time, there’s probably something going on. “What’s up?” I ask him, crossing my arms over my chest preparing for the worst.

He runs his hands through his short hair, not looking into my eyes as he answers. “I don’t like you staying here alone. I couldn’t sleep thinking about you here all alone.”

My brows raise at that. I know Nox cares about me, but I never considered it would be to the point that he would lose sleep worrying about me. My cheeks heat as I realize how sweet that is. I still frown, though. I’ve got a tiny room and these beds are far from comfortable. Why would he want to come here instead of demanding I go to theirhouse? He all but asked me to move in with them on Christmas. When I ask about it, he quirks a brow at me. “I would never force you to come to our house. I know you’ve never really been in control of your own life. I would never dream of trying to boss you around. Mostly because I’m pretty sure you could kill me seven different ways with just your pinky finger.”

A snort explodes out of me and I roll my eyes since he’s clearly over estimating my abilities. I can only think of about two ways to kill him with just my pinky. Though then again, he’s probably just making a joke. I shrug, not admitting or denying anything. “You don’t have to keep an eye on me. I can take care of myself most of the time.”

A small smile spreads across his face. “If you don’t want me to stay, I can go, but I’ll probably just end up siting outside of your door all night.” He shrugs like that’s just absolutely normal.

Maybe he is just as psycho as Zane and me. He probably just wears his differently. I purse my lips but end up just shrugging. “Fine, you can stay.” It would draw more attention to have him sitting in the hallway like a creeper than just having him stay with me tonight. He smiles brightly at me and I can’t help but return his grin. “Come on, let’s try to get some sleep. It’s late.”

Flipping the switch off for the light, I walk over to my bed with him following behind me. I slip under the covers and scoot over as far as I can. Nox hesitates. “I could sleep in the other bed if you want.” He runs his hands through his hair once more.
