King Mikael of Iskavard never gave a second thought to his behavior. Lyra had to escape his cruelty to find a quiet life. And now his life is in her hands.

Mikael
I was a hellion all through school and had a tight-knit group of friends. Once I took the throne, I settled into a fair, respected reign. Many of those I grew up with are now part of my royal guard.
I’ve felt a shift in attitude and an air of unease, but not enough to question loyalty. I’ve been working with the kings of other provinces to destroy a terrorist cell that exists within the mountains, but I never dreamed I had a mole in my court.
Until I was almost killed on the mountain during a hunting trip.

Lyra
My life was hell all through school because of a local gang who decided bullying was a way of life. Once I graduated from university, I bought a property on the outskirts of town, far from the castle.
I found solace in being alone, until I found Beckett. A tiny little boy fleeing from his abusive father, he became my foster until I can get a total adoption done.
Our lives were just starting to fall into a normal routine when I found Mikael almost dead in the snow. He might be my king now, but he was a follower through the years of my torment. His best friend led the pack and Mikael worshiped him.
But how can I let him die?

What will happen when Lyra learns Mikael’s secret? Can Lyra protect Beckett when his father finds them? Can she forgive Mikael and help him save the kingdom?
