The Fee Entail
Longbourn has stood for three hundred years. Elizabeth is beginning to wonder why preserving it must cost her everything.
Her first sacrifice was marriage to Mr Collins. Her parents called it security. Elizabeth knows what it cost behind closed doors.
Now her husband is gravely ill, another heir threatens the estate, and her father has returned with a demand more outrageous than the first. Once again, her sisters’ futures depend on what Elizabeth is willing to surrender.
This time, she intends to negotiate.
Unfortunately, her negotiations have an audience: Fitzwilliam Darcy, a gentleman whose good opinion she neither possesses nor particularly wants. He offers assistance. She questions his motives. Neither expects their argument to become the most honest relationship in either of their lives.
But saving an estate and saving a family may require very different bargains.
Through forced marriage, domestic brutality, and the aftermath of sexual violence, Elizabeth and those drawn into her struggle will find something worth considerably more than Longbourn—and more than one hard-won happy ending.
An inheritance is worth fighting for. A life is worth more.
