“Stay close, sweetheart,” he told her, somehow balancing his gun and phone with one hand as he called his pack and quickly told them we needed help.

“Upstairs,” Jude snapped, sounding very alpha-ish as he led the charge toward the front staircase.

My socked feet slipped on the floors as I tried to keep up. I grabbed the railing of the stairs as the front door shattered inward in a spray of glass and wooden fragments.

I cried out as Jude spun to shield me. Peeking out from under his arm, I spotted Bowen protecting Calla a few feet away, and my heart stopped as men dressed in black tactical clothes pushed through the broken door.

Bowen lifted his arm, but a familiar voice snarled, “Drop the weapon or we’ll put you down, beta.”

I glanced back, my heart in my throat as Agent Carson strode to the front, his gun aimed at Bowen’s head.

With a terse look, Bowen set the gun down and kicked it toward Carson. I watched the piece of metal skitter across the floor, and felt the last wisps of my hope evaporate with it.

My scent exploded in a bomb of fear pheromones, and I clenched my teeth together, but it didn’t stop the terrified whine.

Carson smirked. “Calm down, omega. You’re safe now.”

“What the fuck is going on?” Jude demanded.

“By order of Omega Services, we are taking the omega, Hazel Jones, into federal custody.” Carson sneered at Jude. “Be grateful you’re a fucking beta and can’t be charged with kidnapping like your alphas.”

No.

Not my pack.

“Kidnapping?” Jude spat. “Are you out of your mind?”

“I think there’s a mistake,” I tried. “Pack Dutton saved me?—”

“Shut up,” Carson barked, his order rendering me silent.

“Don’t use your alpha influence on her,” Jude hissed, getting to his feet and standing between us.

Carson’s gun swung to Jude’s head. “Please, fight me, beta. I’d love an excuse to put a bullet in your head.”

I tugged frantically on Jude’s arm, feeling a sort of blinding panic rip through my body that I’d never experienced. The type of terror that left my pulse racing fast enough that I was certain I was going to have a heart attack. My vision turned wavy as I struggled to breathe.

“Stop it,” Carson growled, glaring at me.

“Leave her alone,” Jude snapped.

“Fuck this,” Carson scoffed, waving the team of men forward. “Arrest the betas.”

Four men crashed forward, breaking into pairs to grab Jude and Bowen.

“Stop!” I cried, scrabbling forward as a gun hit Jude’s back and sent him to his knees with a groan.

A rough hand wrapped around my hair and yanked me back. Carson loomed over me with annoyance. “Stay put, omega. Don’t make this any harder on yourself.”

“What about this one?” An agent standing behind a cuffed Bowen asked. He nudged Calla’s knee with his boot. “Another omega.”

“Of course these fuckers think they’re entitled to two omegas,” Carson muttered. “Take her, too.”

“She’s Crew Dutton’s sister,” I insisted as Carson’s meaty hand wrapped around my arm and pulled me up.

“Don’t touch her!” Jude roared, struggling against his cuffs until an agent slammed the butt of a gun on his temple. He went eerily still, and my stomach flipped inside out.

“Let’s go.” Carson pushed me forward, and I stumbled. With a frustrated huff, he grabbed my arm again and marched me out to the awaiting cars.
