Kat slides off the desk and rests her hands on my hips, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Honey, a quickie in the office isn’t going to happen,” she says, her smile teasing. “At least not today.”

I chuckle, draping an arm around her shoulders, and we walk out of the office and make our way over to the clubhouse. “We have our room in the clubhouse?”

Kat laughs softly, her voice a melodic sound as we cross the parking lot. “House full of guests, remember?”

We enter the clubhouse, and I notice Judge engaged in a conversation with Sal near the bar. The club’s atmosphere is alive with the familiar buzz of activity, friends, and a sense of brotherhood that has always been a part of our lives. But with all the new people here, I forget my wife is famous and more than one of the brothers’ eyes light up when she enters the room.

Judge sees us approaching and smiles at Kat. “Tell me we are out of here?”

“Yes, you are,” I answer for her. “Jas is at the house.”

Judge holds up his cell phone. “I know. She texted me an hour ago.” He looks at Sal. “Good seeing you, brother. Is Emily with you?”

“Yes, she is out at the house with the children.”

King walks over to our little group and holds out a hand to Sal. “I’m King, President of the Savage Angels MC in Las Vegas.”

Sal glances at me, then shakes the man’s hand. “Salvatore Agostino.”

King’s grip tightens on Sal’s hand, and the tension in the air is palpable. It’s clear that Sal’s reputation precedes him, and there’s an unspoken understanding among the men in the room.

“Sal, let’s have a sit-down,” I state, and King nods. “Alone.”

King scowls at me. “Don’t you think I should be in on this conversation?”

I offer a reassuring smile. “You will be, brother, but Sal is family, and I want an update on my sister before we dive into business. I wouldn’t want to bore you with the details.”

King’s scowl softens, and he nods before walking back to the corner he came from.

Judge leans in, his voice hushed, and says, “He’s been asking questions about you. Guess he figures since you and I argue that I’m not on team Dane. I set him straight, but I won’t be the only one he’s talked to. Best keep an eye on him, Prez, and send him home soon.”

“Team Dane?”

Judge barks out a laugh. “Yeah, like team vampire or team werewolf?”

“Have you been watching Twilight again?” asks Kat with a giggle.

Judge pulls his top lip up to look like a vampire and says, “Team Edward all the way.”

Kat laughs harder and goes up on tiptoes to kiss my cheek. “Love you, don’t be late.” Then she looks at Judge. “Meet you in the car.”

We watch her leave the clubhouse before I turn to Judge and say, “Stay close to her. There’s too many new faces in town.”

Judge rolls his eyes. “You know I don’t actually watch Twilight, right? And, of course, I’ll look after Kat.”

With a smirk, I respond, “Sure you don’t, Team Edward.”

“It’s something Jas used to say.”

Sal replies, “Of course you don’t, my friend. We believe you.”

Judge scowls at both of us. “Screw you both.”

Sal and I laugh as he jogs after Kat.

“Where can we talk?” asks Sal.

“Yeah, let’s go into the chapel. We’ll have privacy, but not for long. King will want to be in on this conversation.”
