His eyes darken, and I shudder out a breath.

“Good night, Davis,” I whisper.

“Night, Cameron.”

I force myself to turn and head inside. It’s hard, though. I want to look back, run back to him and kiss him again, but I keep walking towards the elevator and don’t let out my breath until the doors close after me.

I let myself back into my room and pull out my phone to text Frankie.

Cameron:Made it back to my room safe and sound! Talk to you tomorrow?

Frankie: Good to hear. Yeah, I work tomorrow night, so I’ll be around in the morning.

Cameron: Talk to you then!

I plugmy phone into the charger and start to get ready for bed when my phone dings again. I expect it to be Frankie, but instead, Davis’s name is on the screen.

Davis:Tonight was fun. Can’t wait to do it again tomorrow. Sweet dreams, baby.

I grin downat my phone, trying to hold in the squeal that is trying to get out. Finally, I give in.

“EEEE!” I shout, giggling as I fall back onto the bed and smile at his message until my eyes start to feel heavy.

“Hey,I didn’t think that you were working today,” Gunner says as he stomps into the Mountain Rescue headquarters.

“I wasn’t supposed to. Niko called me early this morning, though. Elle cut her finger making breakfast this morning so he was taking her to the hospital for some stitches. I’m just here covering for him until he can get here,” I tell him, tucking my phone away.

I’ve been staring at my phone all morning, hoping that Cameron texts me and wants to hang out earlier. At this point, though, it’s already close to three, and I know I’ll see her soon.

The door opens, and Niko hurries in, looking annoyed.

“Thanks for covering,” he tells me, and I nod.

“No problem. How’s Elle doing?”

“Good. There was some accident on the slopes, and three people came in with broken legs or arms, so we had to wait quite a bit. She’s at home now getting some rest.”

“You think that she’s actually working with Sophie?” I ask him with a smirk, and he growls.

“Probably. She needs to slow down,” he complains, and I stand to gather my things.

“I’m headed out. Let me know if you need anything.”

“Wait, tell me about the girl from the other day. Cameron.”

“She’s my mate,” I reply, and he nods.

“Yeah, I got that by how protective you were of her. I thought that you were going to shift right then and there when I went to shake her hand.”

I roll my eyes, and he smiles.

“Have you told her yet? The full moon is tomorrow night,” he reminds me, and I shake my head.

“I’m going to tell her soon. We went out for dinner last night, and I’m taking her out again tonight. I’m hoping to tell her tonight.”
