“It’s still pretty early,”Davis says as we leave the restaurant and head towards his SUV. “Did you want to come back to my cabin for a little bit?”
“Sure,” I say, sounding overeager even to my own ears.
I blush slightly, but Davis just smiles as he opens the door for me. I’m not sure what has gotten into me ever since I landed in Alaska, but all I can seem to think about is Davis. I fantasize about him. I even dreamed about him last night.
My body has felt overheated all day and it’s only gotten worse as our date went on.
Maybe I’m coming down with something?
All I can think about as we drive to his cabin is his body. What would it be like to have his hands running all over my curves? How would it feel to have his body pressing mine down into a mattress? How would it feel to have him between my legs?

“I’ll start a fire,” he says as he turns on some of the lights.
I take a seat on his couch, watching as he crouches and stacks a few logs in the fireplace and lights a match. He seems almost nervous and that makes me feel more relaxed.
“I like your cabin. I don’t think I told you that the other day.”
“Thanks. I bought it when I first moved back to Aspen Ridge. It’s been my one and only big purchase,” he says with a wry grin.
He sits down on the couch next to me and I’m not sure what comes over me, but I throw myself at him, my lips landing on his as I wrap my arms around his neck. It feels so good, so right to be close to him like this.
Davis seems surprised, but just as horny and desperate for me as I am for him. He kisses me back, his hands tangling in my hair and holding me to him, even though I’m not trying to go anywhere.
Just as quick as the kiss started, Davis cuts it off and pulls away slowly.
“I… we need to talk,” he says, the words coming out shaky.
“About what?” I ask breathlessly.
All that I can think about is kissing him and having his hands all over my body.
“I need to tell you something,” he continues.
“Oh God. Are you married or something?” I blurt out, jerking away from him.
“What? No! I would never do that.”
“Okay… then what is it?” I ask.
“I… I’m a shifter. A wolf shifter.”
“What?” I ask, blinking at him blankly.
