“We will. We’ll keep her safe. She can stay with us, or if she’s comfortable with it, she can stay with Gunner or one of the other guys. They have no ties to you, so she might be harder to find there. Gunner lives in a pretty secluded cabin. He’d for sure hear anyone coming,” I tell her.

“I’ll talk to her about it.”

“And you’re going to stay, right?” I ask her.

I need her to promise me that she’s going to stay with me. I would follow her everywhere, but I want to go together, not be chasing her everywhere.

“Yes, I hated being away from you,” she says, tears sparkling in her eyes. “I should have asked you to come. I just… didn’t think of it. I’m so used to doing everything by myself.”

“It’s not just you anymore. I’m always going to be there for you. You can’t leave me, Cameron. I love you.”

She rocks back on her heels when I tell her that, and I instinctively reach for her. She surprises me when she throws herself at me, wrapping her arms around my waist.

“I love you too,” she whispers. “I don’t want to be apart from you. I want us to be a team, to be partners.”

“We are. We’re mates.”

“What happens now?” She asks me, and I smile down at her.

“Now we go home. You can put down those roots that you want. We’ll keep Frankie safe, and we’ll all be happy,” I promise her.

“That sounds amazing,” she says, hugging me tighter.

My wolf paws at me, and I kiss the top of Cameron’s head as I hold her. I hate to pull away from her, but I know that we need to board soon. I see Frankie heading our way as the flight attendant announces that they’re ready to start boarding and reluctantly let my mate go, but not too far. I keep her hand in mine, needing that contact between us.

“Ready to go back to Alaska?” I ask, and Cameron nods.

“We’ll need to buy winter clothes once we’re there,” she says as I take her hand, and we head over to the line to board.

We’re in first class because those were the only seats left. My wolf paws at me, demanding that we’re in the seat next to our mate. Frankie is ahead of us, and she moves to sit on the left side of the aisle. Cameron and I take the right.

The seats are set up like individual pods, and the first thing I do after sitting down is to pull down the partition separating us. Then I’m reaching for her and pulling her closer to my side.

“You know, I think these seats fold into a bed,” I tell her, and she giggles, giving me a mischievous smile.

“Maybe after takeoff, we can test them out,” she whispers to me, and my wolf howls in agreement.

It’s been too long since we’ve been with our mate,he growls at me.

We were inside of her two days ago.

Too long.

I have to agree with him.

I brush her hair back, admiring my bite mark on her. That seems to appease my wolf and he calms down as the plane backs up and then starts to taxi down the runway.

I look over at Frankie and see that she looks nervous so before we take off, I pull out my phone and send a quick message to my friends.

Davis: I’m coming back with Cameron and her friend, Frankie. She’s in a bad spot. Could use your help keeping her safe.

Niko:Of course.

Ash:Whatever you need, brother.

Alec:I’m in.

Flint:You’ve got it.
