She turned off the wi-fi and shut her computer. Her first instinct was to pack up and leave town. However, she knew that she couldn’t do that to Zac, Sean, and Jade. Besides, even if she did leave Angel’s Creek, how long would it take them to find her? At least here, she had some measure of back up, although the thought of them fighting another battle to protect her didn’t feel right to her.

Olivia decided to call Zac and tell him what Sandra had told her. She was disappointed when her call went to voice mail. He was busy or out on a run.

I got some information this morning from my friend back home about Declan. He’s told the pack that he’s coming to find me and kill me. I think that he already knows that I’m here. Please call me back.

After she left that message on his voicemail, she called his office. There was no answer there, either.

“I could go to Howlers’. There will be people there, including Sean. I don’t think that he would be stupid enough to try anything there,” Olivia said.

She packed her bags, deciding that if Zac’s offer still stood, she would take him up on it for now until Declan got tired of his stupidity and found someone or something else to focus on.

The phone to her room rang.

“Hello?”

Benny’s panicked voice screamed in her ear. “Danger. Get out.”

Then, the line went dead.

Her heart pounding, her breath catching in her throat, she grabbed her bag and car keys. Before she could get to the door, it was kicked in. Declan crashed through the door. Behind him were four of his goons.

“Did you really think that you could hide from me for long?” he sneered.

“This is stupid,” Olivia said. “Prophecies are self-fulfilling and there was never any mention of a curse. That was something that you made up.”

“I figured that Sandra was in contact with you. I’ll deal with her when I get back.”

“Actually, it wasn’t her,” Olivia protested. “You were stupid enough to put your claims all over social media.”

“Did you just call me stupid?” Declan raged.

“Yes,” Olivia said simply, hoping against hope that she could keep him talking, and Zac would get there in time to save her.

“I am your alpha. How dare you talk to me like that,” Declan roared, taking a large step toward her.”

“You stopped being my alpha when you threatened to kill me,” Olivia said, hating the fact that her voice was shaking.

It took every ounce of strength that she had not to back up. Her fingers fumbled with her cell phone. She managed to hit speed dial to Zac’s phone. At least he would know what happened to her.

Declan knocked the phone out of her hand.

“No one can help you now,” he sneered. “Grab her.”

One of his goons rushed toward her. Olivia kicked him in the knee. It cracked loudly.

He yelled loudly and went down.

Two of them rushed toward her and grabbed her arms. She used them as leverage to lift up and kick out with both of her legs. She connected with Declan’s chest, making him step back.

“You bitch,” he roared.

She tried to drop abruptly, hoping that the weight shift would force the men to let go of her, but it didn’t work. Olivia kicked out at Declan again as he rushed toward her. Once again, her feet connected to his body, but it didn’t stop him.

Olivia squirmed, trying to free herself from the tight grips of the men holding her. She ducked her head to the side when Declan threw a fist at her. He missed.

He slammed his fist into her side and Olivia heard her ribs break. A sharp pain exploded inside her body, and she screamed. He punched her hard in the face twice in rapid succession. Olivia began to see stars.

“Stop. This is insane,” she screamed.
