“You’re welcome anytime, Jordan.” Camille smiles.

Whitley scoffs from the bar and I eye her as she clearly pretends to not be checking out the backside of Jordan. The man isn’t ugly by no means.

“I’ll keep that in mind.” He looks to me, then Grey. “I’m glad things worked out.”

I smile at him. “Me too.”

He turns to leave when I look over my shoulder. “Don’t you have a flight to catch too, Whit?” I ask.

She shoots daggers at me over June’s head.

“Maybe you two could carpool to the airport?” I bite my lip to keep from laughing.

Her eyes form tiny slits. “I’d rather bathe in acid. I’ll pass.”

Jordan checks his watch. “Your loss, cupcake.” He nods towards the door. “Take care.”

He leaves the room and Whitley holds up a hand. “I don’t want to hear it.” She rises from her barstool and stomps out to the patio.

Amused glances bounce around the room, but we all know better than to poke the bear.

Greyson sits back down on the couch, his arm sliding onto the back so my head can rest on his shoulder.

The last two weeks have been eye opening. My heart was broken, so tired, but Greyson put it back together. It wasn’t that he shattered it, he was just missing. I couldn’t fix it without my missing puzzle piece. I couldn’t fix it without him.

Chapter 58

Greyson

Three months later

“Just take my hand. I thought you trusted me, Rosie?” I chuckle.

“I mean I do, but I’m blindfolded, Greyson. It’s a little alarming,” she mutters.

I take her hand, leading her down the rocky lake shore. It’s been three months since the charges were dropped. I had announced my retirement, Tilly had recovered from her wounds, the physical ones. It’s taken her some time to deal with what happened with Lucy. Tilly has always been someone who takes her friendships seriously. She loves hard. Especially her relationships she’s built through the center, and it was hard for her to accept it at first. She still mourned the loss of her friend, even though she did horrible things. That’s just who Tilly was.

She’s not only came out of this stronger, but her confidence in her voice has grown. She still prefers to sign in loud places, but her insecurities are shrinking. I made it my personal job to make sure she knows every single day how amazing she is. How her visions for the center and this town have helped so many people.

We just left the center, where we sat down with Dixie and went over the new expansion plans to the building. I’ve had an idea for a while now. When I found out my career would be ending, I knew I wanted to channel my energy into something important. Something that wasn’t just important to me, but to us. Which is why in two weeks we break ground on the new wing that is specifically devoted to kids and pre-teen athletes. We want every child that has a dream to play sports be able to interact and learn just like everyone else.

“Are we there yet? I’m starving.” She groans.

“Almost.” I tug, placing her right where I want her.

“Alright. We’re here.”

I untie the blindfold and slip it into my pocket.

“The lake?” She smiles. “What are we doing here?”

I lift a shoulder. “It’s where it all began.”

She faces me and purses her lips. “Is it now?”

I nod. “February 10th.”

She freezes. “Ten.”
