I wrap my own arms around her. “Never alone moving forward either.”

She sighs and rests her head against my chest. “We should probably head out too. I think we’re the last ones here.”

“It’s okay. I know the coach,” I quip, earning a chuckle. “But you are correct. We should head back to your place. We can do a little snuggling while we wait for the boy to get home. If I’m lucky, I’ll slide into second base again tonight,” I add, wiggling my eyebrows suggestively.

“I was hoping for a home run, myself,” she replies, taking my hand. I grab her bag along the way, as well as her blanket, and lead her toward my truck.

She slides into the passenger seat of my truck, and I quickly turn over the engine and fire up the heater. As I’m pulling out of the lot, I turn toward her apartment, wondering how quickly I can talk her and Brody into moving in with me. Now probably isn’t the right time, but I’m hoping I can convince her sooner rather than later. I’d much rather fall asleep beside her every night and wake to her beautiful face in the morning. I guess, until that day comes, I’ll just plan to stay at her place as much as she’ll let me.

When we reach her apartment, I follow behind, carrying her bag and blanket, as we head up the stairs. The moment we’re inside the warm space, she slips off her winter coat and hangs it on the back of a kitchen chair. I’m wearing a crewneck sweatshirt with a thermal long-sleeved shirt beneath it, and thanks to the adrenaline of the game, I was plenty warm. Now, I’m a little heated in other ways. All I want to do is strip off that thick sweater, her jeans—with probably leggings beneath them for extra warmth—and the four pairs of thermal socks she’s got on in those boots.

“You know, we don’t have much time before Brody gets home. Second base might be all we achieve tonight,” I tell her, pulling her into my arms.

“Are you kidding? We’ve got all night, Thomas Dexter. I’m not letting you leave anytime soon,” she coos, sliding her fingers up my arms and wrapping them around my neck. I try to ignore the fact they’re like little ice cubes against my skin.

“No? You asking me to stay the night with you, Ellie Daniels?” My cock is already hard and ready to go.

“I am. We’ll have to be quiet, though.”

I walk her backward until her ass is pressed against the wall. “You’re in luck. Quiet is one of my specialties. We just have to stay out of your squeaky bed.”

She giggles. “I’d say wall sex is one of your specialties, and I might like another demonstration.”

“Done.” I plaster my mouth to hers, deepening the kiss immediately and slowly moving her toward the bedroom. “First one’ll be quick. Second one, I’m taking my time and savoring you all night, love.”

She whimpers, rolling her head to the side and giving me access to her neck. “That sounds good to me.”

The moment we cross the threshold into her bedroom and lock the door behind us, I release my belt buckle and grab for the button and zipper on my fly. We both undress in record time and I have a condom in place within seconds, I lift her into my arms and press her back against the wall. Slowly, I lower her onto my cock, trying not to explode right here and now at the feel of her pussy gripping me. Only when she’s completely seated do I exhale the breath I was holding. Ellie runs her hands through my hair and holds on tight.

“All night, El. All fucking night.”

Then, I start to move, determined to show the woman I love just how much she means to me.

Not just for the night, but for the rest of our lives.

That’s literally my main goal from this point forward.

Something she’ll be able to count on from here on out.

I’m dependable like that.

Epilogue

TD

7 months later

“I’ve been waiting months for this,” Brody says from his lawn chair across the fire, as he finishes off his third hot dog of the night.

“Me too,” I confirm, sitting back in my chair and just watching him. “I’m just glad the snow finally melted and the weather is starting to warm up.”

It’s early May, and even though the cold winter weather has been lingering, Brody and I decided to get our first camping trip under our belt for the season. For me, it’s not just about hanging out and camping with him though. I have an important question I want to ask him where his mom is concerned, and I felt this was the best way to go about it.

Brody and Ellie have been living with me for the last two months. I asked her on Valentine’s Day to move in with me and after discussing it over with her son, they agreed. So, the first weekend in March, I officially moved the two people I love most in the world into my house, and it’s been the best two months ever. Just as expected, falling asleep with her in my arms every night and waking in the morning the same way is a dream come true.

Now, I just have to take a step toward the rest of that dream.

When he’s finished his food, I quickly clean up what little mess we made and take the condiments into the cabin. We agreed to camp tonight but decided to forego the tent and wait for warmer weather to enjoy that aspect of it. Tonight we’ll be sleeping inside, on regular mattresses, in a temperature-controlled environment.
