One week later...

“KING!” Bailey shouted, storming into the clubhouse.

Looking up from where I was sitting, I smirked while Venom marched toward her husband on a mission. The woman looked fit to be tied. She was hopping mad about something.

Lately, that’s all that woman seemed to be.

Mad, that is.

If it wasn’t one thing, it was another.

Turning on his stool, King groaned, hanging his head. “What’s wrong now, Cupcake? I’m kinda busy here.”

Poor brother has been taking the brunt of his wife’s ire since she learned he infected her womb with his spawn.

Her words.

Not mine.

Then there was Scribe’s wedding to contend with, and just to add more to his plate, his niece Jessica showed up in the dead of night with a caravan of women and children needing a place to lie low. There were so many unfamiliar faces and a plethora of kids running around. The clubhouse looked more like a daycare center than an MC.

It was one of the main reasons I’d taken to sleeping at the distillery lately, because it had nothing to do with my inability to remember who I slept with on New Year’s Eve. I mean, it still bugged me to no end, but I couldn’t sleep in my new bed without trying to figure out who it was that left their pretty panties dangling from my ceiling fan.

Nope.

It had nothing to do with that.

Nothing at all.

“I’m formally asking for a Special Request.”

King moaned. “Why?”

“What do you mean, why? Isn’t that what you and your merry band of misfits do? You help people. So, get helping.”

“Woman, I don’t have time for a Special Request. None of us do.”

“Then make time. This is important!” Bailey said, stomping her little booted foot when Scribe walked over and slapped King on his back. “I’ve got this, Prez. Alright, bestie. Who pissed in your Post Toasties today?”

Bailey narrowed her eyes and growled, “CPS.”

“Okay, I’ll bite. What did CPS do to you?”

“Not to me. To Claudia.”

Now, that got my attention.

Standing, I walked over to Bailey and asked, “What’s happened to Claudia?”

Turning to face me, she said, “CPS is taking little Charlie away from her. They said she can’t be his mom because she works too many hours, and I need King to fix it.”

Shortly after New Year’s Day, we all learned that Claudia found an abandoned baby in an alley near her home. Refusing to put the baby into the system, Claudia started fostering the baby with every intention of adopting him.

He was a cute kid too.

He really hit the jackpot with Claudia.

She was always taking care of everyone.
