I winced and looked back at Joanie. She looked like she was ready to burn Chase’s body and toss the ashes down the drain. Clearing my throat, I awkwardly inched my way out of the office. “Well, thanks for talking shop with me, Joanie. I’ll definitely upsell the customers on…stuff…now.”

Chase rolled his eyes and stepped out of my way. “Give your friend better advice next time, Violet. Joanie telling me to kiss her ass isn’t going to hurt my feelings.”

I paused and looked back at him. Before I could comment on the twinkle in his eye or the increased rage in Joanie’s, I heard someone tap the bell for service. Groaning, I turned and hurried to the bar to take a count of who all I needed to check in on.

Immediately, my eyes snapped to the booth in the far corner. Justin, Ben, and Mason were sitting with a beautiful blonde woman who immediately made me feel bad about every extra pound I was still holding onto. My stomach sank. There I was, thinking they were crazy about me, and only me, but I hadn’t stopped to think about the fact that maybe they would want more women, the same way I would have more men with them. Maybe one woman wasn’t enough for them. I didn’t know. I barely knew them at all.

Panic washed over me as I thought about walking away from them. Forrest deserved his dads, so I’d have to see them all the time, even if I moved. I was trapped. They were in my life forever and I was going to lose them to a stunning blonde with zero percent body fat.

“You’re staring.”

I jumped and clutched my chest. “Coco! How do you do that?”

She leaned against the counter in front of me and glanced over at the guys. “You’re staring and you look sad. Why?”

Shaking my head, I forced a smile. “I’m not sad. I was just thinking. What can I get you, Coco?”

“A slice of pie and the truth.” She slid onto a stool and watched as I opened the pie case and took out her favorite, cherry. “I’ll take some coffee, too. Please.”

I added a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream, just like she liked, and poured her a cup of coffee. “I better go check on everyone before they get cranky.”

“Coward.”

I scoffed at her and made my rounds. I refilled a few glasses and took a few orders before everyone except that far table was taken care of. Knowing I couldn’t avoid them anymore, I slowly moved across the diner and crossed my fingers behind my back in hopes I wouldn’t cry if they introduced the woman as their other girlfriend.

“That area needs more coverage. It’s a blind spot right now.” The woman tapped a piece of paper on the table between them. “Also, someone needs to talk to her about following instructions. She’s purposefully ignored safety protocols multiple times.”

Ben grunted, sounding every bit like an unhappy bear. “She’s a fucking child. Why even pay for security if you’re not going to take your safety seriously?”

I gently cleared my throat. “I’m so sorry to interrupt. I—”

“You can interrupt all you want.” Ben wrapped his arm around my waist and tugged me down on his leg. Smiling up at me, he cupped the back of my head and pulled me closer so he could kiss me.

“Wow.” The woman’s voice startled me and I pulled away from Ben. “I’ve never seen you act human before. Color me shocked.”

Ben kept his arm locked around my waist and searched my face. “What’s wrong?”

“Let me out, Angel.” Mason nodded to the blonde woman and I tried not to react to hearing him call her a pet name.

I forced myself to speak to keep things from getting awkward. “I’m fine. Just a busy morning. What can I get you guys to drink?”

Mason slid out after the blonde and pulled me off Ben and into his arms. He ran his hands all over me, but it felt more clinical, like he was searching for injuries. “Did someone do something? Are you feeling sick? Do you need medication for anything?”

Justin and Ben were suddenly surrounding me. Justin pressed the back of his hand to my head. “No fever. I’d feel better if we checked with a thermometer, though.”

“Talk to us, Vi.” Ben looked like he was close to having his own panic attack.

I cleared my throat and tried to wiggle out of their tight circle. It was useless, though, so finally I just sighed and looked between them at the blonde who was watching us like she’d never seen anything like what she was seeing before. “You’re being rude to your lunch date, guys.”

The guys and the blonde all reacted at once. First shock and then laughter. Ben jabbed his thumb in her direction. “You thought Angel was our date?”

“I’d rather eat my own shit, honey.” Angel, apparently her actual name, scoffed. “No sauce.”

Mason pressed his lips to the side of my head and chuckled. “Did you miss our morning? You know? When we claimed you as ours and beat our chests?”

“Violet, you’re nuts.” Justin pressed a kiss to my mouth before sliding back in the booth. “Certifiable.”

I crossed my arms under my chest and waited for them to sit down again. Ben pulled me right back onto his leg. Frowning at them, I grunted. “We barely know each other. I don’t know what you three want. For all I know, each of you want your own harem, or something.”
