I searched his eyes. “Do you think she should know?”

He sighed heavily before he walked over and dropped himself onto my couch. “What do you think about Brody taking the charge with finding this witch to help break the blood contract?”

I chuckled. “All right, I’ll pivot with you this time. But we’re coming back to my question.”

“Good. Now, answer mine. How do you feel about it?”

I eased myself down next to him on the couch, feeling it creak beneath my weight. “Honestly?”

“Please.”

“I’ve always thought that Brody wanted to take this pack over and that’s why he’s pushing Raven in this direction. I don’t think she’s made this choice quite on her own. But even so, would it be that terrible if Brody took over?”

“You don’t think she can handle all of this?” Dean asked.

I leaned back, crossing my ankle over my knee. “I mean, he knows the pack better than Raven, sure. But--.”

“He also knows our traditions and customs.”

“Sure, he knows how to handle the full moons. But, it takes more than that t--”

Dean clicked his tongue. “From the sounds of it, I’d say you’ve already given up on Raven and this whole venture.”

I felt his gaze boring a hole into the side of my face. “Give me one good reason as to why you feel Raven is currently suited for the position of Alpha. I mean, she hasn’t even experienced her powers yet. We don’t even know if she knows how to handle them.”

Dean sighed. “Actually, we do.”.

I paused. “What bomb are you about to drop on me now?”

He groaned. “Raven’s wolf ran off with her yesterday. Scared the living shit out of her.”

I followed his groan with one of my own. “Fan-fucking-tastic.”

“And to be completely candid? I don’t think it would be bad if Brody took over the pack. Does he have what it takes to be Alpha? Sure, maybe. About as much as any other shifter has. The problem is I can’t just set aside the fact that Colin’s dying wish was for his daughter to lead this pack. Are we really going to cast that contract off to the side simply because it’s more convenient for us?”

I licked my lips. “It was his final wish.”

“There’s something else, though. Something I haven’t really told you guys. Something that makes me think Brody shouldn’t become the alpha.”

I slowly looked over at him. “What are you holding back?”

And when his gaze met mine, I held my breath.

“I think she’s our fated mate, Hudson.”

I turned my body to face his completely. “What do you mean, our fated mate?”

“I had that vision a few days ago. This… this strong, clear, and stark vision where the three of us were standing behind Raven, and it was the three of us. Connected. With her. Loving her. Enjoying her.”

“All of us.”

He nodded. “You, me, and Levi. All three of us.”

A pang of jealousy ripped through my gut. I’d felt the pull toward Raven ever since I had laid eyes on her in that house for the very first time. My heart slammed against my chest so hard that it almost made me sick to my stomach. Her intoxicating scent had held my cock hostage, and it had taken everything inside of me not to drag her upstairs by her fucking hair and claim her as my own.

“Have you told her this?” I asked.

Dean raked his hands down his face. “I did a bit more than tell her.”
