Olivia’s eyebrows rose.

“That good, huh?” she asked, though her tone hadn’t changed.

Julie knew her well enough to know her feelings weren’t hurt by being kept out of the loop. It just made her even more curious. But she also understood the importance of keeping secrets, especially at Stronghold and Marquis.

“Maybe.” Julie tapped the outside edge of the card as she cradled it in her hands. “I’ll be able to tell you more after next weekend.”

Curiosity lit a flame in Olivia’s grey eyes. Then she nodded her understanding.

“I look forward to hearing about it.” She got to her feet, brushing her skirt down. “Law will be here soon.” Olivia sauntered out with that little reminder.

Yeah. Julie and Law had their own private spaces within their shared office, and she quickly stashed both the cookie tin and the note in hers. She knew Olivia wouldn’t mention it, and hopefully, no one else had been there for the delivery.

She didn’t need to worry about thinking about John or her mom anymore. Her thoughts for the rest of the night were going to be consumed by the note… and trying to decide what she was going to do.

Dear Mistress Julie,

I want to apologize for any fright or distress I might have inadvertently caused you. I don’t think I have, but just in case. I didn’t mean to worry you when I sent the gift to your house.

If you’d like to know who I am, I am willing to meet.

I haven’t revealed myself before because I’ve been unsure of what you would think. Of what everyone would think. But I’m tired of hiding.

I’ll be at Marquis next Friday in a booth by myself. I’ll have a bouquet of roses for you. If you would be open to joining me, I would love to try serving you for the evening. If not, I understand. I hope, at the very least, that I’ve given you some pleasure over the past year.

Yours, ever in admiration.

Mistress Julie will find out who her secret admirer is in Secret Submission…
