“Save me, Baby,” Ace yelled.

Kody put his arms behind him to hold onto Ace. Steel stood at the end of the couch, hands on his hips as he glared down at them.

“You can only hide behind your boyfriend when he’s around,” Steel said.

“Sounds like I’ll need an alarm system,” Ace mumbled, then yelled, “You try to break in and see what my mom will do to you.”

The horror on Steel’s face had Kody laughing. The fact that Ace pretty much lived at his house now was clearly something he didn’t want Steel to know. Besides, Mama Anita would kick Steel’s ass no matter where he broke in. Not that he would. Now, his partner, though? That was a whole other situation.

Mr. Former-Assassin wasn’t anything like he’d first expected. He was definitely sneaky, and Cora’s pranks had nothing on the one he’d seen Kai pull on Ace. Though it was kind of hard to imagine the man as a stone-cold killer when he’d seen him get jumped by a bunch of kids on a trampoline.

Steel shook his head and walked away but not without flipping Ace off and Kody wasn’t surprised when a middle finger peeked out from behind him.

“So, why does Diesel want you dead?”

“What?” Ace’s head popped up, his face red and confusion in his eyes. “D did this?”

“Yep.”

Ace hummed, lips pursed, and eyes narrowed in thought. Kody was about to ask him again when Ace got up. He walked across the room and pulled Mia away from the boy who’d been glued to her side the whole time they’d been there. Mia and Ace spoke with their heads low for a moment, and then they took off in different directions.

“Whatever they’re up to,” Matt said, gaze never leaving his phone, “it’s either gonna be hilarious or downright horrible.”

“Probably both,” Kody said.

Matt did look up then, first to meet Kody’s gaze, then to look at his shirt. He shrugged, then repeated, “Probably both.”

Mia carried what looked like a purple speaker into the room and once she plugged it in, she grabbed a microphone off the side of it and yelled, “Karaoke time.”

There were as many groans as there were hoots.

Mia grabbed another microphone and handed it to Ace who stepped forward.

“This song is for someone very special to me,” Ace said and if it hadn’t been for that smirk on his face, Kody would’ve thought he meant him.

When Ace started singing, within the first three words, Diesel was yelling at him. It only made Ace sing louder and when others joined in, Chris had to pull Diesel away. Diesel went with him, but he pointed at Ace and then made a slashing motion across his throat.

Chris dragged Diesel into the hallway and Kody could just see them from where he was sitting. Chris pushed Diesel against the wall and within a second, Diesel had them switched around, hand around Chris’ throat. Kody stood, ready to jump in if necessary, but then they were kissing, Chris wrapping a leg around Diesel’s hip, so he sat back down with a shake of his head.

Ace’s song ended and when Mia put on Dancing Queen by ABBA, Cora joined them. Ace handed Cora his microphone and beckoned Kody toward him. Kody didn’t move so Ace walked over and grabbed his hands to pull him up. He pretended to protest, but there really wasn’t anything better than making fun memories with two of the people he loved the most.

Singing karaoke with a bunch of outlaw bikers was surreal to put it lightly and yet, there they were. He knew each of those bikers were deadly, but he also knew they were compassionate and caring.

He caught Ace’s gaze and the love he saw reflected back at him had his heart soaring. For so long he’d thought he had to be perfect to be loved. He’d thought he had to fight for someone’s attention and love. Ace had shown him just how wrong that was. He didn’t have to do certain things to earn Ace’s love. Ace just loved him.

Ace was his biggest champion as much as he was Ace’s. He looked forward to spending the rest of his life with him and their crazy families.
