Lizzy was beyond the perfect person for this dress. A silver collar encrusted with black diamonds encircled her neck. It was connected to the corseted gown by a white diamond belted chain that ran the length of her throat and between her breasts. The lacing around the waist gave Lizzy’s curves an even more hourglass shape, and the crisscross pattern on the bodice mixed in with actual gems made the outfit impractical but just the right touch for a showstopper.

Lizzy grinned and then continued walking to the end of the runway. She picked up her train, allowing the cameras to capture the different angles of the dress.

Just as she turned, her attention snagged on someone in the crowd. Instead of pausing as I expected her to do, she only blew whoever a kiss before returning to us again.

I hugged her, “Thank you, Lizzy.”

“You did this, Sophia. It was you. Come on, it’s time to show the world you did this.”

Lizzy took my hand, pulling me toward the stage entrance.

I looked over at Damon, wanting him to be there with me.

He shook his head. “This is all you. Go shine, Sophia Donatella. I’ll be here when you get back.”

EPILOGUE

Damon

“If you touch that mask one more time, I will stop the car and tie your hands down,” I said to Sophia as I turned onto the freshly paved driveway of what once used to be the Pierce estate but now was the location of mine and Sophia’s new house.

It took over two years of planning, permits, and construction, but we finally finished. Today, I’d show Sophia our home, completed and ready to move in.

“I hope you know you’re not my favorite person right now.”

“I can live with it since the opposite is true the second any part of me is near your cunt.”

“That’s not a very nice word.” She wrapped her arms around her growing belly. “What if they can hear you?”

I shook my head. “The only thing they can hear is your stomach noises. Besides, if they aren’t bothered by me fucking you, they aren’t going to care about the word cunt.”

“With us as these kids’ parents, one of them is destined to say shit or fuck as their first word.”

“If we survived our upbringing, they will be just fine.”

I pulled to a stop in front of our two-story waterfront home. This property wasn’t like anything I’d ever designed. No hardlines as I would have chosen for my high rises or penthouse projects. But more on the simple elegance line, leaning toward Sophia’s style.

She wanted a home, a place to feel like she belonged, to find comfort and escape the world. Until I met her, I never realized how much I needed the same thing.

Living in my penthouse for the last nearly three years wasn’t so bad, but it never fit us completely.

“Why’d you stop? I swear I didn’t touch the damn mask. You just want to punish me because I insisted on sleeping in the studio last night. How many times do I have to tell you, when I have a collection due, I’d rather sleep there?”

In the excitement of receiving the occupation clearance, I’d forgotten about that infraction.

“We’ll address that situation later. I have something to show you first. I’m coming around to your side. Stay in the car until I get there.”

“You’re so bossy.”

“If you’re only figuring this out now, you haven’t been paying attention for the last three years.” I opened the door and moved over to the passenger side. “Come with me.”

I helped her up. “This is how much I trust you. I don’t even question where you’re taking me with a blindfold.”

“You humble me.”

“I drive you crazy.”

“That too.”
