“What’s he like? He must be hot for Pauline to be into him.”

“He’s fine.”

Kevin snorts from beside me, and I shoot him a glare.

“What?” Griffin asks with a chuckle. “You don’t like him?”

Kevin glances at me, and my mouth dries.

“No, I fucking don’t. The guy’s a sleazeball.”

Ivy grimaces.

“Really?

“A little,” I admit, shifting uncomfortably.

“But didn’t he drop you off here?” Ivy frowns. “Was your mom with him?”

Kevin snaps his head to mine and does nothing to disguise his fury.

“You let him drive you here?”

Uh oh.

“Yes, Kevin. With mymother.”

“You know what he’s like. Did he do anything?” Kevin rasps, reaching out to grip my chin.

I gasp and go to move away, but he doesn’t let go, forcing me to look at him.

His eyes blaze, and for a minute, I lose myself in them, unable to form any words.

“Like you care,” I hiss, tugging my chin free of his fingers.

Kevin screws his face up.

“Answer me, Shelby; what did he do?”

Griffin looks panicked, and Ivy clears her throat, staring at us with confusion before she finds her voice.

“Didhe do anything?”

“No,” I lie easily. “Okay? So back off.”

I address the last part to Kevin, who glares at me.

“You can come back with me.”

He crosses his arms, and I go to argue when he says, “it’s not up for debate. He’s not driving you home.”

Irritation floods my senses, and without caring about Ivy or Griffin, I retaliate.

“You don’t get to decide that, Kevin. Remember?”

Kevin rolls his head to stare at me, and fear dances up my spine, followed by a throbbing in my core.

I hate how he does this to me.
