I almost choke on my beer when Griffin nods at Kevin.

“I’d say Kevin, but he’s determined to be a miserable spinster for the rest of his life.”

Oh my fuckingGod.I gulp at my beer, trying to stop my motormouth from saying how much I agree with him when Kevin sighs.

“I’m not miserable.”

Griffin laughs, lifting Ivy’s legs to slide beneath them. He rubs her feet, and she groans, making Kevin look away.

How is he still awkward with Ivy and Griffin? He’s going to be a grandad to their baby, for God’s sake!

“Ease up, old man,” I say to him, trying to keep up appearances for Ivy’s sake.

Kevin doesn’t even look at me, and my smile dies on my face.

“I’m fine.”

“Sure you are.” I roll my eyes and catch Ivy and Griffin exchanging a puzzled look.

“Is everything okay with you two?” Ivy asks, looking pointedly at me.

My cheeks flush, and my chest tightens, but I manage to nod.

“Same as always, babe.”

Ivy nods but doesn’t look convinced.

“Okay. If you say so.”

Kevin remains as still as stone beside me, and I want to shake him. Why can’t he play along? He’s the one that doesn’t want Ivy to know about what happened. I wouldn’t be overly excited if she knew either, but I wouldn’t care if it wasgoing somewhere.

Which it isn’t because Kevin is a coward.

“I’ll order some food,” Griffin says, his eyes meeting mine. I can see that he knows something has gone down, but he says nothing.

He gazes at Kevin.

“You hungry?”

The question is so loaded I almost expect Kevin to confess everything, but he shrugs.

“I could eat.”

His voice sends shivers over my body, and my core tightens when he glances in my direction.

I hate him so much!

“How’s your mom? She’s seeing someone, right?” Ivy peers at me, and I shudder at the memory of Tommy kissing me.

“She is, yeah. Tommy. She went to school with him.”

Ivy’s eyes widen.

“Really?”

“Yep.”

Please don’t ask about him.
