My body trembles as my grip tightens around the bag in my hand, and I contemplate throwing it at her fucking car.

I would probably miss it, but I’d feel better.

“Trouble in paradise?” A voice croons, and I know before I turn who it is.

It’s that sniveling little shit Finlay, and he’s pressing my buttons at the wrong fucking time.

He grins at me, leaning on his car as he nods towards Pauline’s car exiting the parking lot.

“You know, if this is because you’ve got a thing for Shelby, all you had to do was say. She’d fuck anyone.”

My vision blurs, and I don’t think twice before striding over to him, nostrils flaring as I stare him down.

He looks back at me with a lewd grin.

“Honestly, last night I thought I’d punctured her womb or something, the way she was screaming.”

I lift the bag of beers and slam them into his head, dragging him to the floor as he tries to punch me in the jaw. He knocks me off balance, but I’m soon back on top, bringing my fist down into his face.

“You’re too old, man!” Finlay roars, trying to hit me again. “She’s too fucking good for you, you prick!”

I keep punching his face until he goes limp, and arms drag me back from him, voices pleading with me to stop.

“Kevin! What the hell, man, stop!”

Finlay lies motionless on the ground as the arms tighten around me.

It’s Jimmy, a guy from work.

“Dude, fucking hell! Have you killed him?”

I’m still panting; my fists clenched and bloody as I grin.

“I fucking hope so.”

“Someone called the police, fuck!” Jimmy pants beside me, his eyes wild.

“Little bastard,” I hiss, wishing I could carry on punching Finlay.

“What did he do, man?” Jimmy asks me as I shake his arms off me. “Don’t hit him again, Kev!”

“I won’t,” I snarl, wincing when I hear the sirens. “And he looked at me funny.”

A crowd has gathered around us, and everyone looks at me like I’m a monster.

Well fuck it, maybe I’m a monstrous pervert. Let them think what they fucking like.

Shelby is moving to the city withTommy?!

My gut twists, and I can only watch as Finlay comes to, staring around through swollen eyes.

“Help,” he whispers, and when I look over, I see the police have arrived.

“Stay where you are!” An officer tells me, recognizing me instantly. “Jesus, Kev, he’s just a kid.”

The other officer stares down at Finlay before ordering an ambulance.

“He’s a little shithead; that’s what he is. We’ve still got to take you in, Kevin.”
