I stir in the bed, lunging across the bed, and sliding the answer button.

"Hello?" I say.

"Who the fuck is this?"

He does not want to test me. "This is Raven's boyfriend. Who is this?"

Tim stumbles on the other end. "Wow, she wasn't lying about moving on so quick. And she made me feel bad for breaking up with her. Has she fucked you yet?"

The way he says this makes my jaw clench. "That's none of your fucking business. Stop calling her phone. She wants nothing to do with you. Get the fucking point already."

Please let him say something smart back. Ryan is right. This guy seems like a complete dickhead.

"I'll call whoever I want. Last time I checked, she was supposed to be my wife... and now she's off fucking some random guy in her hometown. You are just a rebound, bro. She'll come running back to me in no time."

I don't even get a chance to respond before he hangs up leaving me seething.

Raven

I softly open the door to the bathroom, and Adonis is laying on the bed, illuminated by the light from the window. His presence is like an electric current in the air. He turns to me, and the look on his face is a mix of determination and a hint of something else; something I've seen before. I pause in the doorway, uncertain of what to say.

"What's going on?" I stutter.

He looks at me for a moment before speaking. "Your ex called again," he says before glancing away. "I told him to leave you alone."

A warmth spreads through my chest at these words. He is jealous.

"Thank you," I say.

Adonis just nods, still not looking at me. Something else happened for him to be this worked up, but maybe I could help him calm down.

He doesn't even notice that I'm wearing nothing but a towel, my hair still dripping from the shower.

"You know I want nothing to do with him. You are the only one I want," I say, trying to close the space between us.

Adonis's expression changes in an instant, his anger replaced with something more intense. He's not just jealous, he's mad.

"I want to find out where Tim lives," he growls. "And kick his fucking ass."

I'm taken back by the ferocity of his words, but there is no chance of Adonis actually doing this. He's just protecting me from my ex and his possessiveness.

I reach out and touch his arm lightly, trying to soothe him. "It's okay. Tim can't hurt me anymore because I'm with you."

Adonis looks at me for a long moment before finally letting out a long breath and nodding slightly. I take his hand in mine.

He takes my face in both of his hands and looks into my eyes, as if searching for something there. His gaze softens as he speaks again.

"I will always protect you," he says quietly. "No matter what happens."

My heart swells with gratitude at these words, and I lean in to kiss him gently on the lips.

We sit together for a few moments, simply enjoying the silence. I straddle him and remove my towel. His eyes never leave mine and our faces just inches apart. His hand gently caresses my back, sending a tingling sensation through my body. His touch is so electric, like a drug, and I can't help but crave more. With each stroke, my body relaxes into his embrace. Our lips meet, soft and gentle.

As he sighs and pulls away, the intensity of his gaze proves his jealousy. I know he is still thinking of my ex and I do my best to reassure him that there is nothing left between us.

His hands slide down my body, exploring every inch of me. His touch sends sparks through me. I find myself wanting more. He's getting harder beneath me. We remain there, relishing in exploring each other, his hands moving around my body, and my heart racing like a mustang. I let out a soft moan as we fall deeper and deeper into the moment. I get lost, his touch intoxicating like a drug.
