I squint my eyes before answering. “No, but I obviously do now. Can we just get to the fucking point?”
“Not yet. Stay calm, or you will lose.”
“Did you know… Nikolus came up with the arranged marriage between you and Zolina because he found out about my affair?”
“Wait, what? No,” I blurt.
“Yes, Nikolus found out that I was fucking your father, so he concocted the arrangement with him. I was already planning to sell Zolina, so it didn't really matter.”
My blood pressure rises. Sell? This crazy cunt was going to sell my wife, her daughter to an unknown person? And for what? Why? I know I have to remain calm, otherwise, this is going to be a shit show. But what she doesn’t know is that Jacob trained as a marksman in the Marines. He will kill Cece before she takes a single step. All it’ll take is for me to give him the ‘go.’
“No, I didn’t know.” I fake a yawn, trying to seem uninterested in her answers. The more unhinged she gets, the longer a leg to stand on, so to speak. “Next question.”
“Okay,” she replies while tapping her manicured fingers on her chin. “Last question.”
I smirk but keep my mouth closed. She doesn’t need to see my relief.
“Did you know… that I’m the one behind your mother’s death?” She laughs again, but the noise inside my ears is only ringing.
“What?”
Her death? She killed my mom?

“What the fuck do you mean? Explain. Now!” I growl.
Zolina whimpers in the background, watching me. She doesn't move. She just tracks me with her eyes. Her hair is matted, her eyes puffy and swollen from crying. Her clothes are gone but replaced by a dress that looks like the design should be on a little girl.

“Oh, it’s quite simple. I drove my car into hers. Killed her instantly. Had I known my child was in the backseat, I wouldn’t have done it, but it still worked out the way I wanted it to.” She smiles at me, and the joy inside her eyes shows just how happy she truly is.
She killed my fucking mother.
“Why? Why would you kill her?” My voice cracks, but I swallow the sound.
“I didn’t want her with Rudy anymore. I deserved him. I deserved the happiness that he was giving to her. She didn’t deserve anything! The only thing she fucking did was give birth to you!”
So, I was only adopted by Rudy. At least my mom was still my mom.
Without waiting for her to continue, without waiting for Zolina to move, and without waiting for myself to continue to break inside, I give the signal.
Jacob takes the shot. He hits her square in the heart, and she instantly falls to her knees before her face smashes into the floor.
Aiming my gun at the two morons who still haven’t moved away from my wife, I take the lethal shots quickly. Leaving this room with only three dead bodies and me and my wife inside. I run over to her, cutting off the ties that surround her.
She sits up and wipes the residual blood splatter from her face. “Atlis…” Her voice breaks as she swings her feet off the table and stands up. She wobbles a little bit, unsteady on her feet.
I take three large steps and catch her. “Easy, Snowflake. I’ve got you.” Her tears instantly start to fall, and I hold her as close as possible. “I have you. I’m here. Let’s go home. It’s over, my love.”
“I’m so sorry. I have so much to say. Your mom, your dad, Kias…” She cries into my chest.
“Shhhh. Don’t worry about it. We will talk later. Let’s just go home… together.”
