Will anyone be there?

ELLIE:

Not sure, but you know my casa is your casa, babes. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

JESSICA:

Okay. I’ll pick some wine up on my way.

ELLIE:

God, I love you.

I tried to concentrate on the rest of my classes, but my brain was done for the day. I spent most of my time doodling in my notebook, looking up occasionally so it looked like I was paying attention.

Some hours later, I was at Ellie’s house, my heavy duffel bag on my shoulder and the carrier bag of wine banging against my thighs as I walked. I’d gotten two bottles because, well, I like wine.

The door was unlocked as usual, and I entered quietly, heading upstairs. The house was silent, and I felt a little cheeky being here on my own, despite Ellie’s blessing. I dropped my stuff into Ellie’s room, taking the wine downstairs to chill in the fridge while I showered. I locked the bathroom door behind me, peeling my clothes off before stepping under the lukewarm spray; I took my time getting washed until a thud on the door made me jump. I froze when I heard Logan’s voice.

“Hurry up. I’ve got work.”

Oh, God. I’m holding Logan up from getting to work, and I don’t even live here.

I rinsed my body quickly, tugging a peach-coloured towel around my body as I gathered my clothes. Then, holding them to my chest, I opened the door to find Logan leaning against his doorway, wearing just bottoms. His face was bruised badly, and his ribs looked like Neapolitan ice cream—yellow and brown with hints of pink.

I sucked in a breath as his gaze travelled down my body, his steel-grey eyes finally meeting mine. Despite the dark bruises surrounding them, his eyes sparkled with desire, his lips parting to reveal his teeth as he shook his head.

“Hello.”

I flushed instantly but managed to remain calm.

“Sorry, I didn’t know anyone was home.”

I made a move to walk to Ellie’s room when his voice stopped me in my tracks.

“Do you make a habit of coming into my house to shower?”

“What? Look, I said I’m sorry.”

He held my gaze for a moment before he stepped closer to me, allowing me to take in his magnetic eyes up close. Then, he leaned down, scooping something into his hand before holding it up like a prize for me to claim.

“You dropped these,” he said innocently, amusement curling at the edge of his mouth.

In his hands were my big knickers, and I almost choked on my tongue. I snatched them out of his hand.

“Thanks,” I whispered, mortified. I backed away, my eyes scouring the floor as Logan smirked to himself.

“Aren’t you going to ask what happened to me?”

He crossed his arms across his chest, allowing me to see his toned arm muscles and tight abs. His joggers hung loose on his hips, and I had to physically drag my eyes away from him.

Jesus.

“No,” I answered honestly, as his eyes widened with surprise. “That’s your business.”

“I like that answer.” He held my gaze for a fraction of a second before glancing at the bathroom. “You all clean now?”

Why was such an innocent question having me wanting to say no, I’m not clean, I’m filthy, and I want you to clean me?
