Page 180 of Survival is Hard

He nods, but that doesn’t seem to have appeased him. “Was it me you insulted?” I shake my head no. “Was it my feelings you put down? My brain you criticised? Was it me you decided to hurt for no reason?”

I shake my head again as the scent of his disappointment fills the air.

He takes off his shoes before climbing onto the bed, and he places my phone down next to his. He tugs my hot water bottle away, and I know he’s going to follow through with the threat.

“I’ll not do it again,” I whisper.

“I know you won’t,” he replies, giving me a small grin. “Because I’m going to make sure you remember that this body is not yours to insult.”

He grabs me and places me over his lap faster than I can blink. It feels a little awkward, especially when he tugs my skirt up.

“Hm, pretty,” he murmurs, tracing his finger down my thigh before he tugs the underwear down. He doesn’t take them off, instead, letting them bunch around my knees. “Are you comfortable?”

“Not particularly.”

“Your smart mouth isn’t going to put me off, baby girl,” he says, sounding pretty happy right now. Sadist. “But are you comfortable? Does anything hurt?”

I shake my head no.

“Four spanks for the four insults,” he says before immediately slapping down on my right cheek. I shriek as a weird feeling builds in my tummy. There’s pain immediately, as my wolf howls in my head, and then he does it again on the left.

“Two more,” he murmurs when I wriggle around.

They’re not super painful, I know he’s not doing these full force, but they still hurt, and I do not appreciate them.

As long as you ignore the scent of my arousal and the flush in my cheeks that has nothing to do with the whimpers I’m letting out.

He does the remaining two in rapid succession before sitting me on my hot ass, the knickers still around my knees.

“How was that?” he asks.

“Terrible,” I reply, glaring at him. But, honestly, the glare is fake, and we both know it.

“I want four compliments about yourself,” he says, and I frown. “You need to change your mindset, baby girl.”

I nod slowly, but I don’t really know what to say.

“I love your plump lips,” he says, rubbing my bottom lip with the pad of his thumb. “I love your kindness.” He trails down my cheek, giving me a smile. “I love your innocence.” He leans forward and presses a soft kiss to my lips. “I love how you love people unconditionally.”

And, with that, he tugs me into his lap and connects our lips. I rise up on my knees, not wanting my ass to press against his thighs, and kiss him with everything within me. His lips are warm and soft, mine part to allow him to slip his tongue inside as his hands grip my hips.

Warmth builds in my chest, matching the heat he delivered on my cheeks, as our noses brush against each other in the frenzy. His cinnamon smell is usually comforting, but combined with his arousal, it’s making me dizzy with lust.

He pulls away, panting as deeply as I am, and then to my utter surprise, he lifts me from his lap and places me further away.

“What?” I gape at him, my heart feeling empty, as he sits a distance away.

“No,” he says, shaking his head. “Stop trying to distract me. Give me your four things, and then you need to eat.”

“But…” I whine, glancing down at my state of undress before sighing. “I love my hair. I love my family. I love my—”

“That one is cheating, but I’ll allow it,” he says, narrowing his eyes at me. “No cheating on the next two though.”

I nod, bitting my lip. Why is this hard? I don’t suffer with self-confidence issues, or at least, I didn’t think I did.

But finding things that I like about myself whilst under pressure is hard.

“Um, I like how good I am at doing jigsaws,” I say, and he nods encouragingly. “And I love my eyes.”
