If she actually earns them.

But her suitcase, well, she needs clothes. I don’t really think that she deserves it, but it’s easier to give it to her and let her cover up that tempting body of hers.

I was lying when I told her she wasn’t my type.

She never used to be. Back when Lainey… well, I’d never have looked at another woman.

And since Lainey? Well, I’ve again, never looked at another woman.

Until now.

There’s just something about her that intrigues my lion, and until I figure out what it is, I can’t let her go.

I head over to the room she’s staying in, and knock on the door. There’s no answer, which is a little rude considering I’m the one hosting her. I didn’t fully expect her to give me one, to be fair, so at least she hit my expectations.

She might be a wolf, but at heart, Nora’s a lioness.

One with claws that she’s not afraid to use.

Or at least, she won’t be when I’m done with her.

But when I push her door open, I’m genuinely surprised to see her not in here. Her scent is stale too, as if she’s not been in here in a while.

I know I left, but that didn’t give her the right to leave too.

Especially not since I was only gone a few hours. Four, at most.

Am I stupid? Clearly.

“Where the fuck did she go?” I sigh, facepalming myself, before putting her suitcase on the bed.

It’s heavy, and I don’t want her to struggle with it.

I check her wardrobe, and see there’s plenty of hangers for her to put her things away.

I sniff, finding her scent as if it’s a beacon that was made just for me, and follow it down to the kitchen where she’s standing, still only wearing her underwear.

I shouldn’t find her near naked body this attractive. I shouldn’t, she means nothing to me. She’s nothing like Lainey, missing the curves that my mate had. No, this woman is far too skinny for my tastes.

Seeing how tiny she is, I know she’d never be able to handle me.

But maybe—

“What’s that look for?” Nora asks, whirling around. Theres a glint in her brown eyes that makes her look a little bit unhinged, but she’s also smiling and acting like nothing is out of the ordinary.

I don’t understand it. She’s not normally, or at least I don’t expect her to be, this weird.

But, in her defence, she is in a completely new environment and I did steal her.

My bad, my bad.

“Where did you go?” she demands, cocking her hip.

I don’t let my eyes stray, or my expression change.

It shouldn’t have surprised me that she tried to search for me. It does though.

“I put your suitcase in your room,” I say, instead of answering her question.
