Page 96 of Survival is Hard

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with her.

I just know she’s staying here for a while and I don’t hate it as much as I want to.

But, for that to happen, I need to do some damage control.

I’ve not yet heard anything about the hunters being dead, no meeting having been called, so I’m going to have to handle that. But, I’ll have to do that later, and only if things are still silent.

I’ve got to maintain my cover.

And I’ve got to protect Nora.

My lion won’t allow for anything else. Even if I don’t think she deserves it.

I now have two goals—protecting Nora, and getting revenge. It’s just hard to tell which is the priority for my lion.

I grab my keys and the scent neutraliser, and make my way down to the car. I set the locks on the house, making sure she can’t leave without alerting me, but honestly, I don’t think she wants to leave just yet.

The first lie she told was when she said she wanted to go home.

Maybe she still wants to leave, but home is not her destination.

That’s interesting, and something I’ll be able to use against her should I need it.

Even if she runs, she’ll not get far. She’s still weak from when I accidentally drugged her.

Okay, the drugging was not accidental.

The overdose was.

But she’s fine. Her wolf fought it off, and other than probably feeling sick, she’ll be fine.

The drive to the location of Atticus’s hopeful death doesn’t take long, but the only thing that’s here is a bunch of dead bodies and some flies.

Lovely.

Atticus’s car is sitting to the side, and after grabbing all the information from the hunters so they can’t be traced back to me, I decide to expel some of my frustration with him on his really expensive car.

I grab a wrench, and swing it into the window, smiling as it shatters instantly

Yes.

This is truly deserved.

After breaking the windows, beating some dents into the car,

I manage to break into the boot, and spot two suitcases, and a smaller carry on kind of bag. The suitcases are labelled, and I hesitate, before grabbing Nora’s and putting it into my car.

That’s actually really smart.

I search the car, and take out anything that is hers. Hopefully if someone other than Atticus comes back here, I’ll manage to throw them off Nora’s scent for a little bit.

Hopefully.

As my final act of pettiness, I open Atticus’s suit case, and start throwing his stupid expensive clothes around. There’s no point to this, not really. But it makes me feel better.

And then I leave. Once I’m home, I take her things out of the car, but pocket her kindle and her phone.

Those are things that need altered before she can have them.
