“It’s nothing compared to what the rest of the town says. Nothing will happen to him if I press charges. I tried that when the old sheriff was in office. He couldn’t do anything. It’s my word against his.”

“The difference is, this time I heard him, and so did Pyro and Skylar. Plus, he propositioned a minor, which is a felony in the State of Virginia. That man is going to jail. I can promise you that.”

Yeah. I wasn’t so sure about that.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Eugene

“Not happening, kid,” George growled, ignoring Cameron as the little shit followed the good doctor around, talking adamantly.

“Why not! It’s the perfect club name.”

George rounded on the kid and glared, pointing his finger in Cameron’s face. “Don’t even think about saying it. I know when your next doctor’s appointment is. Keep it up and I will make sure you get blood drawn.”

“Oh please, needles don’t scare me. I’m not Bailey.”

“Hey!” the cantankerous woman shouted. “Not cool, Cam!”

“Sorry, Bailey, but it’s true. You hate needles.”

“I know that, but you don’t have to keep reminding everyone.” The woman huffed, scooping another spoonful of ice cream into her mouth.

King snickered, shaking his head.

Leaning against the bar, I watched as Cameron refused to give in. Whatever had the little shit in a tizzy, he was determined to get his way. I felt for Frank’s brother, George.

Poor man looked ready to strangle the kid.

Every brother in the club had been in his shoes one time or another.

It was a rite of passage now.

“What’s going on?” Frank asked, walking in with little Charlie strapped to his chest. Ever since Judge Tomlinson granted my sister and Frank custody of the little baby, Frank went nowhere without his son strapped to his chest.

“Cameron found out that George handed me his application for club membership, and now the brat is trying to get George to agree to let him choose his club name.” King grinned, watching the warring duo.

“I still don’t see a problem. My little buddy is smart. He would come up with an awesome name.”

“Eugene!” my sister yelled, walking in the front doors.

Sighing, I rolled my eyes. “Sis, we’ve had this conversation. I love you, but if you don’t start calling me by my club name when in the clubhouse, I’m gonna lose my shit.”

“Whatever.” My sister huffed, marching over to me. “Have you seen Sugar? She missed her appointment.”

“Last I saw her, she was at the shop. She wouldn’t miss that appointment. Banks was supposed to escort her over there because I had to train Fiona at the bowling alley today.”

Not even a moment later, I frowned when Banks walked in with Hawk, and no Sugar.

“Hey, Banks. Did you escort Sugar to the clinic?”

“No. Gunner called and asked me to do a wrecker call. I texted Scribe to pick her up.”

“Scribe was with me all afternoon,” Henley stated, walking down the stairs. “We had to meet Pyro out at the site to go over the plans for the new house.”

“Was anyone with Sugar this afternoon?” King asked, getting to his feet.

When no one answered, I reached for my phone and dialed her cell. When it went straight to voicemail, I called her parents.
