It would help her brother’s businesses along with many more.

It all came down to her family and that was why she was going with Lincoln to meet his.

In the few months that they’d been dating, she started to realize that she was falling in love with him. She wasn’t sure of his thoughts on the matter, but maybe this was the push they needed.

“It’s fine,” he said.

He’d called her the night she found out everything that was happening. Lincoln had been blindsided as much as her, but he seemed to be going with the flow better than she was.

“You’re not annoyed this is being forced on you?”

He lifted the helicopter and took off. “Nothing is being forced. As Mitchell has pointed out, it’s about the island and the business. It’s my job.”

She snorted. “It’s not your job to babysit me.”

He grinned and turned his head to look at her. “I don’t know if babysitting is the right word.”

“Sure, it is,” she said. “They want you to keep me calm. So I don’t come off in a negative light to give The Retreat a bad name.”

“I’d like to think no one was going to come off in a negative light,” he said. “It could ruin a whole business if someone in the kitchen was a jerk.”

She laughed. “There are a lot of jerks in the kitchen. They aren’t the face of the destinations. If their food is great, that is all the guests care about.”

She knew that better than most. She never cared to get her name or face on The Retreat. She just wanted to do her best to make sure the business grew.

“I guess we’ll find out,” he said. “The truth is, Grace. I’d want to be there with you anyway. I would have never asked for the time off. It was too short notice.”

“So it’s working out in your favor,” she said. “You should be happy.”

He held his smile in place. “Not that happy, but I’m not going to complain about having a week away with you. You said the filming was long days, but we’ll have the nights to relax.”

“We will,” she said. “Probably the one good thing about this.”

She wanted to spend more time with him and she couldn’t be upset over that.

“And you get to meet my parents. My mother is thrilled. She’s been wanting to meet you.”

“I’m happy to meet them,” she said. “You know my parents want dinner with you too, but I’m not sure when that is going to happen now.”

Her mother understood that life was just too crazy. It’s not like they didn’t know Lincoln.

Even her parents were thrilled that Lincoln was going with her.

Guess everyone was happy and she hoped that Lincoln understood the family acceptance of this move.

She’d wanted to bring up whether he felt used over this whole thing, but when he’d called her on Wednesday he brushed it all off as if this was exciting and he was thrilled for her and she was going to kick some butt.

Maybe that was exactly what she needed to hear without knowing. It at least relieved some of the concerns in her mind about this.

“We’ll try to work it out,” he said. “Egan told me we are part of the filming starting tomorrow.”

“Yeah,” she said. “I hate they are doing that. Like putting my personal life on show, but I get it. They said everyone will have these things filmed in case they need to use them.”

“So it’s not a guarantee?” he asked.

“No. They are filming all sorts of things and will piece it together as they go. My guess is Egan flying them over The Retreat and talking about the island as a destination will be an opening for me. But the shots of you flying me might not come out at all.”

She knew the longer she lasted in the competition the better chance there was of that. The only thing she was happy about was that the other contestants weren’t going to know about this or her connection to The Retreat until it was aired.
