“Umm, he owes me, so I’m good there. You finally going to introduce me to your new bosses?”

Liam had been bugging me for months now to meet the guys, and while I knew they wouldn’t care if I’d brought him around for an introduction, I hadn’t wanted to come off as taking advantage. I was trying to make a good impression. This, however, was a little different. Liam was family, and they’d given me the ticket to use, so…I thought it would be okay if I set up a little meet-and-greet for the guy. He was, after all, a huge fan.

“Yeah, yeah. You’ll get to meet them. As long as you promise not to embarrass me.”

“When have I ever embarrassed you?”

“There have been too many times to count. But I think you’ll fit right in. At least I won’t have to worry about you hitting on them.”

Liam chuckled. “Mhmm. Not really my type. But don’t think I won’t be sizing that Killian guy up—”

“Killian? Why would you be—”

“Oh, come on, Le. You don’t think I’ve noticed how much you talk about him?”

I pushed off the window frame, my spine stiffening. “That’s because he happens to be a pain in my ass.”

“Uh, TMI, bro.”

“What? No, I didn’t mean literally. Jesus. And on that note, you ungrateful little shit, I’m hanging up.”

“You’re hanging up because I’m right—”

I ended the call. I’d email Liam the details later.

The last thing I needed to think about as I got into bed tonight was Killian, and the fact that even Liam noticed that the sexy rocker had managed to get under my skin.

WITH THE PRINTED schedule for the first Melbourne show in my hand, I punched the down button for the elevator and stepped inside. I’d already emailed the itinerary to each of the guys, but it made me feel better to personally hand over the play-by-play so they couldn’t argue they hadn’t checked their phone.

Musicians. What no one told you about the job was that you were sometimes the glorified babysitter.

The elevator door opened to one of the hotel’s restaurants, where Halo had told me the guys were having brunch, and I spotted them out on the terrace. It was a warm, sunny day, and a light breeze rippled through the patio as I stepped outside.

“Morning,” I said, shielding my eyes as I glanced over each of them, making sure they weren’t struggling to recover from any late-night parties I didn’t know about. But no one looked hungover or any worse for wear…though there was one person missing from the table. “Where’s Killian?”

“Still in bed,” Halo answered.

“Why?”

Viper stabbed at something on Halo’s plate and brought it to his lips. “Maybe he’s got a hot reason to be there.”

My stomach turned, an unexpected reaction, but I kept my expression neutral. “Is that a fact?”

“The fuck should I know?” Viper said between chews. “But that’s usually the only reason he doesn’t turn up for breakfast.”

Right. Of course. It wasn’t like I didn’t know any one of these guys could have visitors at any hour, but Killian had always kept anything he did on the down-low, so even I hadn’t heard about it.

“That for us?” Jagger nodded at the papers in my hand.

“Uh, yeah.” Straightening, like I wasn’t affected in the slightest by Killian’s absence—because I wasn’t—I passed the itineraries around the table. “Pickup is at one at the back entrance. Don’t be late.”

Turning on my heel, I swung open the door as Slade said, “Did you wanna join? No? All righty, then.”

No, I wouldn’t be joining. Instead, I’d punish myself by knocking on Killian’s door to hand-deliver the schedule and make sure he wasn’t passed out in his own puke.

And while I was there, maybe kick out any overnight guests. You know, to keep him on track for the day’s activities.

Yeah, sure, that’s why you’re heading upstairs to his room. It’s not because you want to catch him with someone so maybe this ridiculous attraction will go the hell away.

“Shut up,” I said, just as the elevator door opened, an older couple staring at me peculiarly.

Great, now I’m talking to myself.

I cleared my throat and forced a smile as I stepped out. “Morning,” I said, before hurrying past them down the hall. The strange twisting in my stomach felt uncomfortably like…nerves? That couldn’t be right. I didn’t get nervous. I wasn’t an anxious person. So why, the closer I got to Killian’s room, did I feel like I would pass out?

Mentally slapping myself, I took a deep breath and rapped on his door before I could think twice about it. When there was no answer, I knocked a little harder.

Still nothing.

“Killian? Answer the door.” After a few seconds, I pressed my ear against the door, preparing myself for the moans and groans I expected to hear after Viper’s comment, but it was silent.
