My throat closes completely.

Luci’s expression softens immediately. “Oh, Add.”

And suddenly I’m crying for real. Because for so long I genuinely believed love was fragile, temporary, conditional.

Something you had to earn by becoming smaller.

Bryce made me feel like being loved depended on never becoming inconvenient.

Then Ethan loved me at my absolute worst.

Messy, pregnant, terrified, hormonal enough to cry over aggressive almonds.

He loved all of it.

All of me.

A knock sounds at the suite door.

Then Jeffrey leans inside, wearing a tuxedo and the expression of a man deeply exhausted by everyone around him. “We have a situation.”

Luci gasps dramatically. “Is it murder?”

“No.”

“Disappointing.”

Jeffrey points behind him. “Your dog stole the ring box.”

I close my eyes.

Of course he did.

Sophie wheezes, laughing.

“Oh wow,” I mutter.

“Captain’s currently being chased through a five-star hotel lobby by two event coordinators and your future husband.”

Luci wipes tears from her eyes. “This is the best wedding I’ve ever attended.”

“Can someone catch him?”

Jeffrey looks offended. “I’m trying to preserve the illusion that I work for competent people.”

From somewhere down the hallway: “Captain!”

Followed by Ethan’s voice: “Drop it.”

Then barking.

Then Luci whispering, “That dog fears no authority.”

Twenty minutes later, order is mostly restored.

Mostly meaning one of the triplets is barefoot, Captain is banned from the ceremony entrance, and Ethan apparently bribed hotel staff with an amount of money Jeffrey described as “economically concerning.”

Normal.
