Stella, and Ozzy, and we’ve been here ever since. The three amigos.
I thought it would be awkward being the third wheel roommate, but it hasn’t been too bad. I know
when Stella and Ozzy need their alone time, and they definitely leave me to it when I have guests
over.
We have a good thing going, and I’m going to miss it when we graduate in a few months.
I have no idea what my plans are after college, but I’m sure it doesn’t involve staying in a small
college town in south Georgia forever. I feel like I’m the last person in our graduating class with no
idea what to do after graduation. I believe the universe will eventually point me in the right direction;
I just wish it would work a little faster.
“Well, I think it’s a good thing that you’re going to take time for yourself. You need to figure out
what you want to do with your life, and maybe not going to parties will give you time to focus.”
“Whoa whoa whoa. Who said I was going to stop going to parties?” I ask, twisting my long red
hair around my fingers. Stella rolls her eyes. “I’m not going to stop having fun. I’m just going to keep
my legs closed for a bit.”
“Right, right. My bad.” Stella puts her hands up in defense.
“Maybe you should start coming to more parties,” I tell her.
“Hey, I go to plenty of parties. You know I don’t have a lot of time with my schoolwork load and
everything.”
“Yeah, I know.” I’m sure if I was as in love as Stella and Ozzy, I wouldn’t feel the need to go out
and party all the time either. But then again, maybe not. Maybe this is just who I am—the fun, party
girl with no life goals or plans.
My mom keeps telling me I can come back home whenever I want, but I sure as hell hope I don’t
have to.
Maybe I should start trying to get my shit together.
I mean, Stella is on her way to grad school, Ozzy is an office manager at a local gym, Wes is
working with his dad, Hazel is a professor at Georgia State, and Ezra is in medical school at the
University of Florida. Everyone in our little friend group has a plan. They know what they want.
And here is little ol’ me, the black sheep. The only plans I have are to pick up Chipotle for dinner.
But it’s fine. I’ve still got a few months, and honestly, I work better under pressure.
Procrastination is my middle name.
