“I don’t think that’s necessary. We’re going to a wedding, not prom.” This girl has lost her damn
mind. I think all the sex she’s having with Ozzy is filling her brain with hearts and happily ever afters.
“And anyway, Ezra is a groomsman, so he’s wearing lavender. I can’t wear that because it’ll look like
I’m trying to force my way into the bridal party.”
Hazel has her sister and Stella as her bridesmaids, which I’m totally fine with. I wouldn’t want to
dress in purple in case Hazel thought I was trying to be passive-aggressive or something about her not
putting me in the bridal party. I really couldn’t care less about that. I’m just happy to see my two
friends get married.
“Oh yeah. Well, it doesn’t matter. We’ll still find you something that will make you look extra hot
on Ezra’s arm.”
“Oh my God. You are not going to let this go, are you?”
“Not until y’all are madly in love, and I can say ‘I told you so.’”
“You’re ridiculous. You know that?”
“Yes, I’m aware, but that’s why I’m your best friend, right?”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” I get up and plant a kiss on Stella’s head. “Alright, I’m out of
here. Have fun with your man tonight.”
“You sure you don’t want to come to dinner with us?” Stella asks. Bless her heart for always
trying to include me.
“And be a third wheel on your romantic date? I’ll pass. I have a burrito bowl from Chipotle
calling my name. I might even splurge for some guac.”
“Whoa. Big spender.”
We smile at each other before I shut her bedroom door and walk across the hall to my own room.
Wes’s old bedroom is empty now, so we use it as storage for random things Stella and I find at
local garage sales or antique markets. I don’t know why we keep buying all this shit, but it’s fun to
look for interesting things.
Ozzy’s old room still has all of his things in there: bed, a desk, his clothes. But he doesn’t live
there. He stays in Stella’s room and has since the day they made it official. Honestly, they’re so
perfect for each other it’s beyond sickening.
My room is Ezra’s old room, and it’s basically in the same state of messiness as when he lived
here. I’ve got clothes, shoes, and school things everywhere. And it might look like a mess to an
