Chapter 34

Eric

Stuttgart, Germany

“Ihave visuals on the target,” Oli whispered into the mic while I watched the scene in front of me through the lens of GEM’s new model long-range rifle.

A lone figure was diligently working on his computer while his staff got ready for the evening’s festivities.

He and his wife were expecting an important guest tonight, and they wanted everything to be perfect.

“We have to be quick and smart with our assault. No unnecessary body count,” I stated. The heightened security added a layer of difficulty to our mission, but it wasn’t enough to make us retreat.

“Copy that, Commander.”

Everyone watched the man as he continued to type on his keyboard.

“Hold,” I murmured as a young child came running into our mark’s office and was lifted into his arms.

Karl Moore was the perfect chameleon. He had no distinctive characteristics that could identify him and no features that made him stand out in a crowd.

If I hadn’t known who and how dangerous he was, I’d have thought him to be some random low-level accountant working for a Fortune500 company instead of the former commander of the American Guild.

Finding the man hadn’t been easy. My team and I looked for him for a long time. He was as shrewd as they come, and we wouldn’t have begun the dismantlement with this fucker if it hadn’t been for the European Guild’s intel.

My fucker of a brother-in-law gave us the man’s location, and my team followed the info to this palatial home in the heart of Stuttgart, Germany.

“How is it going, Lieutenant?” I inquired as the man kissed his kid good night before handing her to the nanny.

“I need another minute, Commander. Over,” my wife answered.

She was in the room right below the one I was currently watching and downloading all the man’s files while he kissed his kid goodnight.

“Is everyone in place?” I asked the others.

“Yes, Sire.”

“Make sure the kid isn’t anywhere near our mark when you get there.”

“Copy that, Commander.”

“Remember what we agreed on, Lieutenant.”

“Are you afraid I’ll renege on our agreement?”

In a second. This was Moore, after all. She had been waiting for this moment for half her life.

We watched the old commander pull out his phone and frown.

“Moore.”

“Hello, Commander.” My wife’s voice reached everyone through the telecom system.

“How did you get this number?”

“That part wasn’t as difficult as you’d think. The next time you hide out, you may want to select a less conspicuous residence.”

“I wasn’t aware I was hiding. How have you been, Orion? I’m assuming you’re here with Commander Winslow?”
