“Good guess,” I answered.

“We meet at last, Commander. How may I help the two of you today?”

“We would like the location of the Guild’s commanding officers.” This came from my wife.

“Or?” Three lasers targeting a different portion of his chest appeared.

“We put a bullet in your brain.”

“Interesting. You know that isn’t much of an incentive considering you’re going to put a bullet in me regardless. If it’s all the same to you, I think I’ll pass,” the man said as he looked at the lasers stoically.

“Does this scene seem familiar to you? How does it feel to be prey?” Sarah sneered.

“Sadly, you’re going to have to be more specific than that. As you know, there’s a lot of blood on my hand.”

“Maybe I should target that pretty little girl who just came in to wish you good night. Would that be enough of an incentive?”

“If you touch my girl…”

“So, how does it feel when the child on the other end of the scope is yours and not somebody else’s?”

A light went off in his eyes as the pieces of the puzzle finally clicked together. “You’re talking about how we met.”

“Yes, I am.”

“Those were unfortunate circumstances. But you must admit that had I not done what I did, you would be only a shell of the woman you are today. In a way, I saved your life.”

My wife laughed, “Are you trying to piss me off on purpose? Because it won’t work.”

“I can see that. So how about we stop playing games with each other and cut to the chase? What do you really want?”

“We want the location of the General’s hideout,” I told him , and the crazy fucker laughed.

“I can’t give that to you.”

“Why not?”

“Because I don’t know it. The General didn’t want us to give away the locations of the other commanding officers if we got caught. We don’t know where everybody is and even if we somehow discovered the information, the person would be moved for security purposes.”

“Hummm, this means we have no good reason to keep you alive, now, doesn’t it?” Sarah replied, and a red dot appeared on his forehead.

“Wait! I have something else I can give you.”

“Really? What is it?”

Moore slowly pulled out an envelope from his desk and showed it to us by brandishing the thing in the air.

“I’m assuming you have someone close to me?”

“Yes.”

“Send in one of your men.”

“Tell me why I should do that when I can simply put a bullet in your brain.”

“Because the value of the information is in my head, not in the content of the envelope,” he smiled. “Come along now, Commander, time is wasting, and I have to get ready for my guests.”

I thought about it for a couple of seconds before replying, “Fine, I’ll play. Slowly open your door, but if you make one wrong move, I’ll blow you to kingdom come.”
