I thought about it for a moment, wondering if it was even possible. “If I brought it up to him, that could be considered the same as cheating.”
“True, but if he really doesn’t care about you, maybe he would be open to the idea. It might be what you both need.”
I sighed, rubbing my hand over my face. “What do you suggest I do?”
“First, give this thing with James a rest for a day.”
“I already did that. If anything, it convinced me even more to go through with this.”
“Then what’s one more day?”
I huffed out a laugh at that. “I have ten days with the man before I go back to hell, and you’re asking what’s one day?”
“If you really want this with him, if you’re willing to sacrifice your heart for a man you’ve known for only a few days, then it’s worth talking to Alexander about it. Think about it, please. One day for you to really think of another way out of this situation. After that, if you want to go to him, I won’t try to stop you.”
The thought of not talking to James for even a day was horrible, but she was right. If I couldn’t stand it now, how would I do it when I left him? I could think about it some more and try to come up with a solution. Maybe sneaking around didn’t have to be the answer.
