Her phone goes off and she quickly looks at it and smiles.
“What areyoutexting about?”
Her eyes flash to me. “Huh?”
I reach for her phone, but she tucks it away. “Nothing. Maid of honor business.”
“Uh-huh.”
We look around the messy hotel room.
“What do you think? Clean it up tonight or in the morning?” Jenna asks.
“Morning,” we say together.
We make our way into the bedroom, which contains a king-sized bed. Tired, we all kick off our shorts and collapse on the bed, lying side-by-side.
After a few minutes, Jenna whispers, “Are you excited?”
“Yeah, I am. I was stressed for a while, and a little nervous too, but now I’m just excited.”
“Good,” Leigh says. “You deserve it.”
“Thank you. Both of you. Not just for tonight, but for everything. These last couple of years changed everything for me, but having you both by my side made it easier to deal with. I’m lucky to have you both in my corner. I love you guys.”
Jenna quickly kisses my cheek. “Love you too.”
Leigh doesn’t say anything for a second. Then she sniffles. “Damn it, Maia Barone.” She wipes her eyes and rests her head against mine. “I love you, too.”
Happy, tired, and filled to the brim with various penis-shaped confectioneries, we quickly fall asleep.
