Christ.

It did a fucking number on me.

I wanted to push everyone aside, scoop my wife up, carry her back to my place, and throw her on my bed.

Jillian had practically strong armed us all to Gigi’s place after that. Some of the women wanted to change before book club, but Jillian out and out refused to let them.

Many of them put on light sweaters or shirts over their yoga wear.

But.

Not.

My.

Wife.

Nope.

Lexi wore the tightest of tight pink shorts and a matching tighter than tight yoga bra that hugged the curves I so desperately craved.

If I wasn’t such a grouchy, old, frustrated bastard—I’d almost think she was doing it to torment me.

“Find your partners and then we’ll begin. I’ve got a bunch of new products for you guys to test out.” Jillian’s cheerful voice brought me back to real life.

Partner up? What the hell did that mean?

I watched as the women claimed a buddy—presumably to do a facial with.

God, this must be how the unpopular kids must’ve felt in elementary school.

Nobody chose me as their partner.

Not that I wanted to do a facial.

Because I definitely did not.

Still.

I had my pride.

And man, was it taking a hit right now.

Even Hayley had abandoned me. She was having a great time being passed around for attention—just like Beau and Gigi’s puppies.

Everyone else giggled and chatted excitedly. I sat there, looking around feeling uncomfortable.

Jesus.

I really needed to grow up.

My eyes caught Lexi’s. I noticed that no one had claimed her yet, either. She bit her bottom lip and gazed around at her teammates interacting with each other.

My stomach clenched slightly because I could feel her disappointment with being left out.

“Okay, does everyone have a partner?” Jillian asked in her loud voice. The space wasn’t large. Anyone with eyes could easily see that Lexi and I were the only ones who weren’t matched.

“Just those two are left,” Gianna said, needlessly pointing out the obvious.
