CHAPTER NINETEEN

ALESSANDRO

“So, what are you saying? We have no fucking leads? How is that possible? We own the entire east fucking coast!” I shout, slamming my fist into the table.

“You realize we’re in my apartment, asshole. Feel free to go smash yours up, but don’t fucking wreck mine,” Max grumbles as he straightens the ornament that I just knocked over.

He’s an oddly tidy fucker is Max. He lives alone, but his apartment is freakily clean for a guy.

“Focus! We need to wrap this up. With the last of the families arriving today and tomorrow, we really need to concentrate,” Leo growls.

“We have no leads on Jade or Hernandez. I’ve put a tracer on each of our phones. Next time he calls, it’ll trace him.” Jake looks up all proud of himself from his laptop.

“Well…” I begin.

A loud bang on the door has us jumping up and pulling out our guns.

“I’ll open it, cover me,” Max grunts as we all take our places.

Max swings the door open to a panicked-looking Mel. I put my gun away as Mel comes flying into the apartment. She swings her head from side to side, then settles her gaze on me.

“Alessandro, you need to come quick. Carmella just had a threatening phone call. Sergio told me to come and get you.” Mel is speaking so fast I only just grasp what she’s saying.

Cam. Phone call.

Cam needs me.

I take off at a run toward my apartment. The door is open, so I head straight toward the kitchen. Where I find my wife in Sergio’s fucking arms, sobbing.

For fuck’s sake!

I really want to hate this guy, but how can I when he clearly cares so much for my woman.

“I’m scared, Sergio,” she whispers.

“It’ll be okay, sweets. Alessandro and I wouldn’t let anything happen to you or Andrea.” He holds her whilst stroking her hair.

Too fucking right, we won’t.

“Cam,” I soothe as I move toward my wife, who throws herself into my arms. “Angelo, shh, it’s okay. I’m here now.”

I hate seeing her so upset. She’s physically shaking in my arms. I’ll fucking slaughter whoever has brought pain to my woman.

“What’s happened? Who’s upset you?” I lift her chin, placing a kiss to each of her closed lids.

The rest of the guys have followed in behind me. I don’t care if I look fucking weak showing her affection. Fuck anyone who thinks I’m weak.

“He called, he said if I don’t go alone, he’ll kill your baby. Al, I have to go alone, we can’t risk it. He already said I can’t tell you.” She sobs. “I’m scared,” she whispers in my ear as I pull her in close.

“Baby, you’re not going anywhere near that address.” I squeeze her to my chest, not wanting to let her go.

“Jake, you have a trace on him now, right?” I look to Jake.

Jake visibly pales. “Err, I didn’t put them on the girls’ phones. I thought Leo would murder me if I hacked Bea’s phone,” he offers as reason.

“Fuck, Jake! How could you be so fucking careless?” Leo booms.

Jake flinches.
